ok heres my problem. I get my microphone and plug it in. my computer registers its in. Even my computers mic test says it works. i got to options>Audio>VOIP. i click enable and the box is X'ed. enable mic gain is on. i click start mic test. NOTHING HAPPENS AT ALL. I YELL INTO IT AND IT DOENT REGESTER. WTF!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?

Is your mic volume turned up in windows audio properties?

That in game MIC test is **** imo. Just try when you join a server.

You really have to join a server to see if it works.

Make sure you set the threshold slider all the way down to 0% though if you really want to use the in-game mic test. For some reason it only detects sounds right off the bat, then mutes the mic. If you don't have anything over the threshold before you click the test button, it never bothers to turn the mic on. At least that's how it was for me.

Also if your mic is like mine and is a USB mic you need to go to Control Panel>Sound and Audio Devices>Audio and select your mic as your default device for sound recording. For some reason Battlefield 2 uses this instead of whatever is in the Voice section (you should set that to your mic too, for other programs).

Don't worry too much about it mate - neither the BF2VoIPSetup or the in-game mic test works for me, but my mic works fine anyway (I can hear myself through my speakers, the talk button goes red when I speak in-game and people respond to my VoIP comments).

Just hop into a squad, press B and ask them if they can hear you okay.

If they don't respond at all after a couple of attempts, then you might just be in "VoIP Hell"...

BF2 mutes your microphone in Windows.

You need to Alt-Tab and open up your volume controls and unmute your microphone in the Playback section. If Microphone doesn't show up, then makes sure it's selected in the devices.

when you spawn, the kits will have a flashing up and down arrow in a box in the bottom right of each kit.. just use that to toggle...

On another note- why is it that BF2 always mutes my microphone if I Alt+F4 (or crash to desktop) out of the game? If I press Esc then hit "Exit", my mic is not muted.

OMG u noob. u dont ask something entirely different to the origional topic of a thread. jeez. kids today brains are half what the used to be (trust me i know. im 13!)

i hate the bf2 voip thing the test never works... just ignore it and use it in game ask them if they can hear you

do u guys have onboard realtec sound drivers? if so, drop your dxdiag down from max acceleration to standard and it should work just fine.

i had that problem forever and i finally figured it out. problem with certian onboar d sounds and bf2.
