the character length allowed for your name in 2142 is 14 letters maximum. LESS THAN what it is in BF2. Thus borking the name many of us use? (I think you can figure out what mine is) This has got to be the stupidest thing I have ever heard of if it's true. Especially if it's part of a Veteran's program!

If I'm wrong I take it all back, but all this account info member name blah blah is a little convoluted no? I don't even care about the extra taunt or whatever stuff, I just don't want some jackass to use my name...happens all too often.

First of all, you should be over in the 2142 forums. And if you go over there, you will see a lot of topics revovling around names. Sorry to sound pushy, but it is still a beta program, and what I read over there, the BF2 names are still reservered till it goes GOLD and is forsale.

Actually, my bad. :cry: I just saw that post below this thread. Yep your right. I bet they learned something (a mistake) from the past about creating names and how to handle them in a future database. Maybe you just create the name but it allows more tag flexiblity.

How do these decisions get made EA???!!!

I can answer that. It goes by these simple steps.

1. EA has a problem. It goes to the EA decision making team.
2. When someone has an idea to the solution, he or she must submit it to the EA coordinator team. It must be less than 100 words and typed on a piece of blank paper or else it will be scrapped.
3. The EA coordinator team reviews the idea and adds any necessary changes, and then, it sends the head coordinator by snail mail for safety (10 to 35 business days).
4. Head coordinator reviews the idea again and adds any necessary changes to it. If there are too many words that might confuse future readers, the idea will be scrapped.
5. Then the head coordinator will place the paper with the revisions into the "EA's box for decision making". The head coordinator will get a lollipop.
6. The whole EA coordinator team will wait until the box is completely filled, which should contain approximately 50 papers with the proposed solutions to the problem.
7. Then the 5 EA decision making leaders will move the box to a monkey cage where they will toss all the papers into the cage. Monkeys will eat the papers. This may take weeks or months depending on the monkeys' appetite.
8. When monkeys stop eating for a complete week, any papers left will become the "possible solutions".
9a. If there are no papers left, the whole process begins again, causing a delay.
9b. If there is one paper left, that solution will be the one, unless it is too confusing for the EA team, which then it will be scrapped.
9c. If there are more than one paper left, one solution will be chosen randomly to be announced to the public to calm anxious people. If the words are too confusing, the whole process begins again.
10. Everyone has a big party that they actually reached this step.
11. Now, the debate will start to decide which possible solution is the best. After weeks of debate, the head coordinator will declare the time to vote.
12. There must be a two-thirds vote of the entire EA decision making team before it becomes official.
13. An offical announcement to the public is made. Everyone gets a lollipop.
14. If no one can arrive at a conclusion, the highest EA decision making president will simply BS a solution and will be sent to the public.

Well, I know it does not work and I wont be buying the game anyway so that is that. It does not work for me either and I figured if they cannot make something simple and work the first time it's not worth the white hair and pain medication.
