    Flicks to control screen

    G’day
Got a new computer yesterday. Cant remember all the specs but its got a 7800gtx.
I cranked all the settings on high, except for antialiasing which I set to x2. Everything looks grouse, sounds grouse. Problem is when I an in a vehicle and get close to the enemy, the game flicks over to the control screen (same as if you hit Esc key). By the time I cane get back into the game by hitting Esc I’ve been nailed!
Anyone have any ideas on this? I tried lowering the video settings but same thing happened.
    Cheers

Your computers videocard shouldn't make BF2 look grouse ( gross ). There might be an overheating issue, or a PSU issue. But either way try to list more specs. IF you bought it as a prebuilt complete then it should be easy. If it was given to you, go to Start > Run > type dxdiag and post that on here

        Ok, heres the specs

        Intel C2D E6300
        2GB Duel Ch 533 MHz DDR2 Ram
        400GB Seagate/WDS SATA2 HDD
        20inch Viewsonic LCD
        XFX 7800gtx - factory overclocked
        550WT PSU
Sorry, by grouse I mean it is great. I love it! It is just that when ever I go near an enemy while I'm driving a vehicle it goes back to the control screen as if I have just pressed escape. Then I can press escape and get back into the game.

I update to the latest the NVIDIA driver last night.
        Yes, I set resolution to 1280x1024 60Hz

        Thanks

          Re: Flicks to control screen

          Sounds weird -

My opinion, if it was a hardware issue, then you probably would of crashed BF2 totally or the system would hang etc.

That to me sounds like a software issue ... video drivers?
What version of BF2 are you running?
How did you patch it - From Vanilla straight to 1.3 etc?

Try changing your settings on the card ingame, ie change the resolution to something lower and set everything to medium just to test.

            Thanks for the help.
Because I had to reinstall BF2 on my new machine yesterday I downloaded the complete 1.3 patch from EA's website (not the incrimentals).

Will play around with settings more tonight.
            Thanks

              Re: Flicks to control screen

Maybe the control mapping? It's possible that you have escape or something mapped to your mouse click. It's an outside chance, but maybe

Thanks for all you input. I set anti-aliasing to off, and three of the other settings to medium and I havent had a problem.

                    Re: Flicks to control screen

I have often been kicked to the menu without hitting escape, most often while n a vehicle.

Doens't happen consistently to me though.

                      G'day

Thanks for all the suggestions. I did try them to no avail!
Turned out the keyboard was causing the problem! It was a Gigabyte (GKM-RM01CP I think????). I replaced it with an old Acer keyboard from work and havent had a problem!
                      Cheers
