Is my video card broken?

I uninstalled all the nvidia drivers on bios I put AGP/onboard, the card is in, and the monitor is pluged to the card.
the problem is when I turned on my pc the screen had and still has thousands of little squares green, puple. I have installed the new nvidia drivers but when I was installing my screen went blue and said I had a serius error, I turned it off, uninstalled the drivers. I still have the squares on my screen. HELP please.

the card is a BFG 6800gt oc agp, and I have a 400watt psu.

no I only have one screen its a small 15 inch crt. will that happand on some screens? also both times I tried installing the nvidia drivers I got the blue screen error.

hmmm it depends whether your slot's are PCI-E or AGP

also the card came with an after market fan, what are the steps to installing the fan

no it has a fan, I bought it used from some guy, And I was just thinking maybe he did not install the aftermarket fan correctly.

what kind of aftermarket fan is it? did "some guy" put thermal paste on it?

you should be able to go the the fan's manufacturer's website and download the exact instructions. also, if you go to google and type in your card, and type "review", many of the review websites will have pictures of the card with the cooler taken off.

a note of caution--when you are taking the tiny screws out of the bracket that holds the fan assembly tightly against the core, you must be very careful and you must use the right size screwdriver or you will bore out the head of the screw and it will be very, very difficult to get the thing off.

Im starting to think he might have not put thermal,

I dont know if I should remove the fan and check for thermal, or leave it as it is and try to get my money back?

Also if there is no thermal is it still repairable?, I think not but I dont really know much about PC's.

there are alot of possibilities:

1) that 15" crt is 12 years old and couldn't handle the resolution/refresh rate that windows selected when you plugged in the 6800gt

2) your windows install is buggy (hence the bsod--blue screen of death--when you try and upgrade the drives). this concerns me, because you shouldn't get a crash just by upgrading the drivers. have you tried upgrading from safe mode?

3) your power supply unit may be pushing 200W, and your gpu may require a 350W psu. you didn't answer my earlier question. WHAT IS YOUR PSU RATED TO SUPPLY. specifics, please. it should be written on the side of the psu; you may need to crack open the case to find out.

4) the graphics card may be bad and someone may have ripped you off. but you won't know until you address your potential hardware limitations/conflicts.
