Re: What do people want from their Commander?

When I command, usually I launch artillery on camping armor and I spot every unit when this unit are out of uav sights and approaching to take a flag..

I always give order to the teams even if they don't listen to me but sometimes..

I really like to control what happens looking at the map and seeing my troups fighting..

when commanding dont give a squad orders to defend or attack a flag that is on the other side of the map from them.

dont drop vehicles to try and get a kill, keep em handy for when people really need them

In all my life only 2 cartillery:
        - one on a friend of mine that was sniping (lol)
        - one on a tank but the tank moves and someone was under the hmvvvmmvmv ..

I want the commander to 1) be awake, 2) stay out of armor and air vehicles and 3) support the team.

Re: What do people want from their Commander?

I give UAV at squads most likely that are in a good position to assault a flag. Use UAV for capped flags that picks up any remaining enemies in the area.

Drop supplies at heavy occupied flags. Give UAV whenever they need to defend cos of much incoming troops.

When tank has moved in my UAV I will spot once or twice to warn everybody.
Whenever I spot i will do this once and wait till the red marker goes out. Then I'll spot again. Sometimes I spot lonewolves with same method. Whenever this threats become big priority I will send in UAV.

When my assets are destroyed, sometimes I use cars to push the supplies around to every asset. I also never move around unless they're attacking my base. Or to get a first flag in start of a round. The leader sets foot on the battlefield first I say then lol.

I drop in cars for everybody at fast rate, much more helpfull then killing that loner on a hill.

Support squads every way you can and they will start to listen at you. Afterall you have better perspective of the battlefield as in being the eye of god.

EDIT : Sometimes I richt click with mouse on a spot and as soon as arty is ready, I can launch it.

I want you to use "spotted" wisely. I'm sick of your loud voice telling me about some lone Enginner halfway across the map that doesn't matter to anything.

I want you to prone in our base and command!
Interesting perspective, but there are two sides to that coin.

If Spec Ops does not request a box, then there are better places for it.

Dropping a vehicle on a person walking alone usually ends up with a vehicle in the middle of the road not being used as the person runs off oblivious that a car was dropped for them.

Squad leaders don't respond to orders if no one is in a squad which is usually the case on the pubs.

Any arty strike that kills bad guys is a good arty strike.

Intelligent UAV must be explained as that is too ambiguous.

Spotting an Engy half way across the map alone is usually an indication that a flag half way across the map is about to be taken by one lone Engy. Then when he moves out and others join him from that flag because they spawned there, your fight has gone to the spot you spotted 5 minutes ago. You could have saved your team some points and time by not losing that flag if only anyone had done something about it when you spotted that one lone Engy half way across the map.

Sitting in the same spot prone hiding in your base commanding usually equals being knifed if your opponents are any good. Anyone that suggests you sit prone in the same spot for the map has never played against a team with any skill. I take out enemy commanders all the time with my knife for that very reason just before I blow up all their assets

Not really. Finish off the rest of the commanders assets is definitely more effective than giving it to a tank or something.

Ahem, what's the purpose for vehicle drops (besides cartillery and hotel exploit) besides giving people lifts?

You're stating the painfully obvious. That's not the commander's problem and there's nothing he can do about people not joining squads. All he can do is give squads with people in them orders.
Any arty strike that kills bad guys is a good arty strike.
Obvious but an arty strike that is strategically placed (like on the next flag before a squad rushes in) is better than an arty strike used to take out some sniper on a roof. It happens all the time.
Intelligent UAV must be explained as that is too ambiguous.
Placing it where it would cover the most enemies. On Ghost Town if you place the UAV right you can cover the entire island with it but commanders usually place it crookedly with half the area over the water.
Spotting an Engy half way across the map alone is usually an indication that a flag half way across the map is about to be taken by one lone Engy. I was getting at spotting overkill. It's not good to spam "Enemy infantry spotted" 90 times, especially when half of them are just loners who are going to die anyway, more especially because no one hits caps lock every time they hear a commander spotting someone to see where they are. I can't blame them since the commander usually spots 83 people a minute. Commanders should be spotting people near teammates so that they'll see them on their radar. If the commander wants that lone engie capping a flag to die he can order a squad to defend there, and if the teamwork is so poor on that team that you can't manage that, then I doubt someone is going to take notice of spot number 28 of 67 and see the one guy running to a flag and drive there to stop him. All spotting spam does is make it so your team can't hear a damn thing.

Yeah that's true. After hundreds of rounds I've never played against a skilled team. Not once!

You must need everything spelled out to you: Commander should be in his command menu the entire time commanding. Not running around, getting killed, using up armor, all instead of commanding the battle.

Don't keep giving the same order over and over, I got it the first time. If there's an issue speak.

This is a big one, if I am holed up providing spawn please dont drop a goddam thing unless requested.

Use the scan in a constructive manner.
Although 'spamming' all the ememy players on the field is annoying I find it helpful every now and then as it gives a good overview, always spot the armour, apcs and aircraft for pilots when possible.

                              Good topic.
                              :)

1-Stop sending me "on screen orders", I know what to do, I don't need more crap on my screen. If you see something as a commander that needs done, key your mic and tell me.

                              2-Communicate, communicate, communicate via VOIP.
Just having a commander say (VOIP) "three guys on the flag at hotel, two snipers and a medic on the building across" helps out cappers so much it's not even funny.

3-PLEASE when a flag goes down, let people know who or what is taking it.
I don't know how many times I walked away from a flag, hear we lost it, ran back... and walked right into a tank.

Re: What do people want from their Commander?

Stop telling me to fix s*** when I'm running around with a sniper. Some stupid kid yesterday told me he expects me to switch kits to whatever he tells me he needs. I told him repeatedly to fix it himself(Since he was engineer, or by dropping a box on it), he dropped a box for himself and spammed the repairs needed message. He got knifed....twice.

I want you to watch my back...if you send me to a flag to cap it...at least tell me after i leave if people are rushing to it. I hate moving on to another flag to hear the one i've just come from has gone down.

I know it gets pretty hectic if you're in a large server listening to 32 requests and watching all those people...but if you have a squad thats doing what you tell them to do and they're getting the job done. Take care of them, give them uavs on flags they're heading to, or put supplies on flags they're heading to. Do it without having to be asked 5x. hell do it without having to be asked at all

make realisitc requests. If say on karkand me and my squad are moving from the hotel to the square, don't keep telling me to take the factory...there's like 9 other flags in between.

DON'T WASTE THE UAV ON ONE GUY when we're trying to take a flag that has 10.

if you're just commanding and not fighting and you see someone is heading toward the uncap and no one is around. take care of it yourself instead of asking someone halfway across the map to come back.

                                just some thoughts.
