5:1 KDR is a jet that is being underused .

There is a solution, my main point is that the solution should be catering to everyone.

Are you more concerned about jets or choppers? If its jets, then the long range should be balanced by its tracking abilities. Because the choppers would be totally annihilated.

This would also create a variety in force. Make the stationary AAs with great tracking and limited distance, and portable AAs with great distance and limited tracking.

Check the OPs video in the beginning. Then compare this to my AA map. One single troop on the Con site crane at Oman would be able to annihilate ALL air forces. Can you say "spawncamping" the air strips?

I say yes, but make them short range - so that you really have to work for the kill, maybe even up the accuracy to compensate for the lack of distance.

The manually aimed version, like DC, would add some skill to the usage, but how would that work with the lock-on warning/flares?

      Scort.

As others have said: hand held stingers would be devastating to choppers but not even a nuisance for jets. The choppers are pretty balanced now, except perhaps for Sharqi. It's the jets that are too powerful.

Increasing the range of Stinger sites would be a start. The hit points of jets should be lowered and damage of stingers be increased. Not enough for one stinger to kill a jet but at least so it needs to be less damaged for one stinger hit to be enough. Say 70-85% of the jet health. That would make some pilots bail right there and provide some pilot cycling.

The choppers should then be compensated somehow. Instead of boring improvements like increased hit points, more rockets or damage how about making them more agile? They would be more fun to fly and harder to hit for jeeps, tanks, APC, Eryx, everything except AA and jet missiles.

80% or 4/5 people think we should have this in some form. Now, if we do get it, yes, the helos will need to have some kind of compenstation, and I agree, don't increase the armor too much. Maybe just make the flares more effective(quicker to reload). Also, I think that the missiles need to be very weak. Enough to really annoy a chopper pilot, but also serious enough that if the pilot does not vacate the area, then he risks getting taken down by pissed off ground troops.

Impliment the idea, give Anti-Tanks 5 anti-aircraft shots, and give Helicopters a much shorter recast on their flares. Make the shots 1 hit kills on planes, and 4 hit kills on helicopters.

            Problem solved.

I think that is a little drastic, that is why I say just make it so AT only has one shot They need to make it count and it will take a couple people to work together to take a helo down. Besides, planes never heal anyways so you just need to wear them down over time.

Any they worked pretty well. Also the S2A wasn't that hard to deal with in BFV. So either would work.

                      Oh, so very true.

The chopper in the DC days really just different overall with jets not really being able to lock onto things; just shootem up style and launch rockets. If you knew how to lead right with SFS you could get it close enough to half damage it; a-10 was easy to hit.

I voted yes; but now that I think about it the chaos on choppers it would cause really wouldn't work.

Maybe if there were 2-4 startegically placed on the map; probably at home base maybe.

oh yah good work to the modders on that; whethere or not it is a simple script change.

Let's see some mod action with it.

To force some skill into using a MANPADS, make it like the British Starstreak.

This would force the operator to guide it, and the pilot would get a laser warning, but it would be immune to flares and fast enough the pilot would have to evade immediately.
They'd be hard to use against fast air, but a few of them scattered around a map would teach the heli-whores some respect for infantry.

I have been thinking about it, I am sure that DiCE had tried this out before the game went Gold last year. I am wondering what their explaination of not putting such a key tool in the game was.

No, we do not need "shoulder" fired stingers, in fact it's a stupid idea.

                                1. Vodnik's can take out helicopters.
                                2. Humvees can take out helicopters.
                                3. Flashbangs can take out helicopters.
                                4. AT kits can take out helicopters.
                                5. TOWS can take out helicopters.
                                6. IGLA's can take out helicopters
                                7. M95's can take down helicopters
                                8. Mounted mg's can take out helicopters.

Please, just because you can't take out a helicopter doesn't mean that there aren't people that are capable enough to do so.
