    sons computer

i gave my 12 yo son my old computer with bf2 and spec op already installed. i bought a new faster , better, stronger computer and i bought another copy of bf2 and spec op. i do not want to lose my rank and unloks so.. the question is: can i install the new copy of bf2 on my computer and be able to log on with my rank or do i have to uninstall the old copy on his computer and install the old bf2 on my computer??? is the rank system related to your cd key?? would probably answer this question. ideas,?? thoughts??
    thx

The ranks and unlocks are linked to your username, which is saved on a EA server (or gamespy, something like that). You can log onto your account with your unlocks on any computer that has Battlefield 2 installed, not matter what CD key is used. You don't even need to buy a new copy of Battlefield 2 unless you want to be able to play online at the same time as your son does.

well, my son tried to play multiplayer under his acct and it keeps telling him the cd key is not valid. but it works fine for my multiplayer gaming on same computer but under my acct. so it led me to beleive that it was somehow tied to cd key. not sure what is going on?

I played a friends account on my computer. I dont think accounts are linked to CD keys.

you must have installed your new game with your old cd-key thinking somehow you weren't gonna be able to play with your ranks. Your son needs to reinstall with your new cd-key so that you can play online at the same time. you will not be able to play together using the same cd key.
