Another request for Vegas help plz

I've been using Vegas for a few months now and I've been doing all kind of video and everything working just fine.

But now in one of my videos I want to something often seen in BF2 videos.

You know when someone gets owned, the video pause, a biip , and the word Owned appear. So I let's say in my video a bird passes quickly. I want to pause the video when that bird is on the screen, put a text, then after a few secs un-pause and the vidoe continues.

I dont know if you understand, but those who have seen the Pwed Life video, you'll understand. (when the guy get sniped by the sniper upon the hill).

That effect is impossible to do by human means.

What I would do is use a velocity envelope to freeze on the frame you want, then split the audio so it gaps the area you paused.

Im have no experience with velocity enveloppe, actually, dont even what it's for ...

Anyway if someone could guide me into this trick it would be great

Ok,here i come,

First; you have your footage, select where you want it to stop and hit M for markers

Second; Split the footage about half an inch away from the Marker from both sides

Third; Select the Marker, then right click, envolopes, Velocity,

Forth; Now you might wanna move your sliced footage away for a little bit because it might be in the way, You will be looking at a green line (velocity), at the begging of the green line select it and right click and click on hold, that way you will have your velocity at hold and you can move it all together, Select it again at the point where you want to stop, and right click add point, Click on that point, move it down, it might get confusing for you if its your first time, then make another point and bring down the green line back up and make sure you make the bottom on HOLD, so it will look kinda like this

Hmmm I tried what you said, Dsp-CS-, but I seems to screw up the video, when I bring the velocity Point down, the video seems to go backward, and when I bring the other up, the video restart at the last point.... am I doing something wrong ?

this was a video of mine i was working on 3 months ago, anyway

Look at the end, dont mind the marker, thats there for an effect, i took the same video, got the velocity, cut of parts i didnt want, and i put it to 0, now move your other media apart for now, press ctrl and stretch it out and cut off the parts that are not needed, and just move the cursor to where you want it and put it at the end and you have a still video, try that

OMG, it is so confusing, or maybe im just a n00b,

but hang on hang on, I'll figure it out.

EDIT: ok , I think Im gonna piss off soon. Try again tomorrow, Im not someone who give up easily. The thing is I just cant control the velocity, each time I move the velocity, the video just go crazy backward or forward but never pause at the frame I want, gotta learn more about hte velocity
