    Re: Admin abuse

...and so lies the instability of BF2 ranked play. The never ending problem of moronic children who find it necessary - no, quintessential to disrupt average gameplay with meaningless insults and actions of total retardation. These actions only heightened in annoyence by the existence of recorded statistics. The upside to this crucial situation? Few in numbers.

      Re: Admin abuse

It is damn hard to judge a person until you have walked a mile in their shoes.

If you have never admined, then you only know half the story. As a player, you are worried about you, maybe your squad and on an outside chance, your team winning the round. BUT, you spend most of your time concentrating on yourself. Hence the "First Person" aspect of this game.

Admins have to worry about everything you do as well as every other person on that server. Good admins don't get to rack up great scores when they are on duty. It just isn't possible.

Aside from the EA Ranked Server Program rules you must follow (if you are a ranked server), you have to abide by the EURL and the RoE. You also want to keep complaints down to a minimum. After all, "it takes but one unhappy customer to cause you to lose ten potential new ones." The old saying of bad pr is better than no pr at all only works for movie stars. Ranked servers are mostly run by clans and they run them for recruiting tools as well as their own playhouse. Empty ranked servers don't help with the recruiting drive. And lets not forget that some public ranked servers are there because of a sponsor. Mess that up and nobody sees the ads when the server is empty. Then the server goes bye-bye.

On a Ranked server everyone is entitled to a fair and balanced game. That is it. BF2 Ranked servers are not run by the USDA and you don't get free cheese just because you have an account.

Throughout the six months or so that I have administrated my own server, that I pay for, I have encountered many many smacktards, who always try and hinder everybody else's gameplay. I do not find this fair, therefore the smacktards who have been doing this, have been banned.

I'm amazed at how most of BF2 players believe that it is their right to play on the server I/my clan pay for. I can't believe how arrogant many of them can be. Just the other day I had someone who immediately said "I'm reporting you for admin abuse" after I had kicked him for raping an uncappable base.

I don't think people understand how hard our job actually is and how hard some of you make it - We have to stay up around the clock, usually on shifts making sure the server is kept smacktard-free, and when it isn't, we have to deal with the idiots who think that they can defy the rules of not only our server but the R.O.E. and get away with it.

I'm not saying everyone makes our jobs as administrators harder than usual, but it's just the select few who want to make our jobs a living hell - I don't think that they understand how distressing it feels to be told that our server, that we work and pay for, is going to be "reported" for no apparent reason - for a completely legitimate kick/ban/warn/whatever.

It annoys me - therefore I have made a pact of some sort - a pact that I'm no longer going to take any abuse from players. If I see anyone even badmouth my clan, or my server... I'm going to ban them - with the reason "The day you pay and work for your own server is the day that you can make and break your own rules - until then, get the **** out of my server." - I'm just so very sick of these smacktards believing they have every right to do anything they want.

I'm sorry for my rant, but I do believe there is a different type of abuse being laid out, and no-one will voice the problems of it.

And I do believe that's my longest ever post on these forums. haha.

I think this thread has the potential to become a sticky for those smacktards and abusive admins to serve as an example/lesson/report on smacktards and abusive admins.

                  Re: Admin abuse

if half the admins followed their own rules it would be amazing.

whats funny is that they get their panties in a twitch when someone
complains about their server when they dont even follow the rules themselves.

I have yet to see ANY server with the 'no bunnyhopping' rule where the
admin or sponsoring clannies wasnt bunnyhopping all over the place. Its funny
as hell.. of course when you call them on it, they kick you..

BF2 is by far without question filled with more tards, admins and players,
than any other game I have ever played. No offense to the non tards,
                  seriously, but its true.

I agree. We didn't have these in BF1942 and not in BFV either. Why BF2? "Ooh, modern combat! Cool!" says that 7th grader whose friends all just got BF2 and naturally he has to have one copy as well.

Anyone else get tired of seeing the comment "noob admins".

WTF man. How freaking immature is that word? Oh dear we pay for a server, we must be noobs.

Been there. If they don't like the server that you are providing them, then they should leave instead of being in there badmouthing you.

                          Re: Admin abuse

I banned a pilot and his gunner Thursday night for spawncamping the Chinese helipad on Dragon Valley. I gave multiple warnings for them to stop, they did not. So I initiated a ban for the night. Right as they were kicked from the server someone else starts typing in capslock via public chat "YOU MOTHERF'ERS" - "WHO BANNED (INSERT NAME HERE)" - "IM TALKING TO YOU F'IN CLOWNS ...." ETC ETC. So of course that fellow was banned aswell.

                          I <3 the BF2 community. /sarcasm

                            Re: Admin abuse

The real problem is that everyone with a few bucks to spare can set themselves up as admins - and not everyone is cut out for that kinda job. It takes a special mentaily to be a good admin - a good admin is calm, collected and doesn't take people's frustrations personal. A good admin realizes that the person who is ranting/badmouthing the server/rules/admin doesn't know who and what you are as an admin - it's by definition impersonal.

If you can't take that kind of heat, either close the server for the public or shut it down entirely. I'm not saying it because I think it's ok for anyone to show bad manners and demonstate their poor upbringing is a fusillade of insults - what I am saying is that there are so many infantile players out there, hiding under the protective cloak of eAnonymity, that will be rude, crass and vulgar just because they can.

This is a part of being online and communicating with the general public.

                            Cheers :-)

As an Admin you have to count in that there WILL always be all kind of players joining your server. If you don't enjoy hosting then why the **** are you doing it, let the big ones host instead ..... like TV2 for example.
