Am I doing badly?

Hi this is my first post on this forum
I checkedmy stats and they seem pretty bad:

My accuacy is low and I have a low killratio per minute and Im dying pretty often, also I rarely get more than 20 points in 1 round. Do you pro guys have tips for me? I enjoy playing sniper and as you can see in my stats. Would I get much more points if I played somthign else? I have played some medic but I manage t get mre points when playing sniper.

I also have a question about medals and ribbons, aret hey actually sueful for something? Or is it just to "complete" the game to get all of them?

Go to the "tips&tricks" subforum. You'll find many guides, from sniper to support, medic to tanker.

Of course, you could just keep playing until you get better, on your own..

The best way to deal with your stats is to not worry about them at all.
I've never been big into my stats, but it's been interesting to watch the get better as I've gained experience. I still don't have great KDRs, but they've improved and that's cool to see.

As for the medals, ribbons, and other bits of cyber-bling, they ain't good fer nuttun. I have found them to make for interesting personal challenges, tho. I've used them as a way to get myself playing new roles and to take on new positions. I've always been a terrible sniper, but going for the sniper badges taught me how the role is best played. Now I know better what to expect from both friendly and enemy snipers.

Anyway, don't sweat it. Just play the game, have fun, 'n don't worry about anything else. It's a game, fun is what it's for.

Nah you are doing fine, if you are new to bf2, like any a game, it takes time to learn what works for you and what doesnt. So give it time, eventually you k/d ratio, points, etc.. will get better.

The medals & ribbons arent useful for anything, just useful for picking up da ladies!!! :)

I always find that if during a round, i'm constantly checking the leaderboard ('tab' key) i do way worse than if i just concentrate on what i'm doing.

Could not have put it better myself. Ribbons and badges are one of the reasons I play various kits.

I do that a lot as well. I get a kick of being higher on the ladder than a higher ranked player

You've played 20 hours, forget about your stats. imo the most useful BF2 players are the good squad leaders who nearly always have a lower score, this is because you are always providing spawn hence staying alive and supporting the squad and therefore the team.

You'll find that ranks and unlocks will go alot fast if ya join a squad and cap flags and do the whole teamwork thing that just going for kills. I started ignoring stats and starting going for wins and my global score addition started to go from 70 to about 120-150.

dont worry about stats youy will get better if you dont worry about them work as a team with people and you will get better

Stats don't give you unlocks.
Points give you unlocks.

Lonewolves can make good points only if they kill alotta people. You can't really get any teampoints. You can't expect to cap a flag unless you're really lucky (or the enemy has a crappy commander). You don't get heal or supply points 'cause there's no-one around (besides, you're a sniper).

SO...

If you can't make lots of kills (your stats say ya ain't doing so hot with that), this is the WORST way to get points.

Try playing as a support or medic class for awhile. Join a squad and toss out those bags. Get good at zapping your squad leader back to life (he'll love you). If you're in a good squad watch what your guys are doing... they'll teach you alot.

Mostly, just try to stick with your guys.

Trust me, it's a hella lotta fun and your stats will improve while you're making WAY more points.

People often neglect the power of an "objective". Lets say you lack in skills to take down other opponents face to face. Simple solution is to create a situation where you face the opponent while he has his back turned on you. Set yourself an objective, such as- "I want to die the least in this round". This is what made me focus on situational awareness the most. If you play simple, you will also die simply, because youll most likely face people in the simpliest situations usually "face to face" and you get killed. If you start thinking and playing with "dieing least compared to everyone else" and change your gameplay accoordingly, your mindet starts to change.

The hardest part is not to get better aim, but to create a playing style that will create you an advantage in every situation.

Ive failed to do that in BF2, simply because 1:1 KDR is all I need, and my objectives usually rely somewhere else, but I did this in SWAT4 and it worked wonders. If you die the least, youll soon notice your kills go up.
