New Monitor, can't load game now.

Hi guys,

I just bought a new WS monitor, and when I went to load BF2, it goes to a black screen, then I get a message on the screen showing that the monitor is trying to adjust the image to a resolution of 1680x1050 and then the black screen closes and i'm back to my desktop?

Anyone have any ideas? Is there a safemode way to launch the game and then edit some settings? Help!

If the game loads with the "defaultplayer" selected, then start at "B".

If the game will not load even with the "defaultplayer" selected, then start at "A" and then do "B" also.

A. Rename the battlefield 2 folder in your "My Documents" directory to something like "Battlefield 2 current".

Then start bf2 and it will create a new folder with all default settings. If this works, then close out the game and rename this new "Battlefield 2" folder to something like "Battlefield 2 defaulted". Go to the profiles directory and in the default profile, copy the video.con file.

Now rename the "Battlefield 2 current" folder back to "Battlefield 2" and go into each of the profiles you have replacing each video.con file with the one that you copied above.

B. Before you restart bf2, go into the cache folders and delete the contents:

Bf2 cache = \Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

SF cache = \Battlefield 2\mods\xpack\cache

Now resart bf2 and adjust your video for your player only. Leave the default player alone.

Go to your my documents folder, BF2\Profiles\{Your Profile, 0001 refers to your first profile, 0002 refers to your 2nd one etc}\ and open video.con in notepad. Edit the line 'VideoSettings.setResolution 1280x1024@60Hz' to 'VideoSettings.setResolution 800x600@60Hz'.

Once in the game set your desired resolution and it should work!

It worked, I used Jazzra's way cuz I'm pretty lazy, so I tried it first and it worked, right away, so I didn't have to use Cigar Man's way... but that's for the replay anyways, Cigar Man!
