    RAM question

Im building a new rig so i can play BF2 on all high settings
From the budget i have left for the RAM i can either get 1GB of corsair or 2GB of other type RAM.
Which do you think would be the best?

Corsiar stuff is good but so is other ram. Personally I think you should buy 2X1Gb sticks. If you tell us your budget we could more accurately answer your question.

        Re: RAM question

I have about £100 left for the RAM. I think i will just go for the 2x1GB sticks, thats what i was thinking but just thought i would ask opinions.
Ive just ordered an Asus Mb, AMD 64 3700+ and a 7800GTX so with 2GB RAM i should have a pretty good rig :)

          Re: RAM question

For around £100 you are looking at something like the Kingston 2GB Kit 400mhz DDR PC3200

DDR4 RAM up to 128GB and 4400MHz at the lowest prices online from Kingston, Crucial, Patriot and more. Buy from the experts. Next day delivery and finance available.

However ram this cheap will have loose memory timings.

I thought most motherboards didnt allow 4 sticks of pc3200. At least with my mobo, the sticks run at 333mhz as apposed to 400mhz when all 4 slots are filled up.

                  Re: RAM question

If you're not going to be overclocking, then I would just save some money and get the cheapest 2gb you can get. As long as it's the right type of memory. What motherboard did you get?
edit: actually I think all AMD 3700's are socket 939, so you ought to get some 400mhz pc3200 ddr memory. The modules Merlin linked to look fine.

That was on Athlons prior to the Venice core...which accepts 4 sticks double sided ram at 400mhz, but at a 2T command rate.

That 2T CR might account for a single fps loss in gamesm maybe 2 at most.

                      Re: RAM question

Going from 2T to 1T can give a huge performance increase. My memory bandwidth went up 13% through changing from 2T - 1T.

Thats why I said earlier it is best to get 2x1GB sticks.
