), but some things make the game unnecessarily frustrating. Random deviation being probably the biggest factor. I'm sure everyone here who has played this game for any amount of time has had a time where they've gotten the drop on an enemy and been in a perfect situation to shoot him in the back, when suddenly your bullets decide to fly everywhich way but straight, while the enemy spins, drops, and you're dead in one shot. That has very little to do with skill, and just about everything to do with luck. I can see why it was put into the game - that being to make things easier on newbies - but I've always taken a liking to games that rewarded skill more than just dumb luck and in BF2's infantry combat luck is every bit as important as skill. Having a quick aim doesn't necessarily cut the mustard because someone with slower reflexes but who gets luckier with the deviation can kill you. Sure, it still helps to have fast reflexes, but infantry skills can only take you so far in this game while luck needs to take you the rest of the way.

Actually I can still see PlaneWhore's point of view on IO and its overall potential impact on regular servers, but people will play what they want to play, not what everyone else wants to play, so I'm trying to look at it optimistically. It seems there are at least enough people on just these forums alone who will either still play regular BF2 100% or at least off and on with IO that there will still be regular servers going, and as long as there are some good-pinging ones I'm fine with it. I never really did care what impact IO will have on the stats system since I've always felt the stats system was useless beyond anything other than self-evaluation (probably why you were never able to search for other players in BFHQ until they released a patch for it...either that or DICE was too lazy to include it upon initial release, which is more likely, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt
