My opinion in why this will be a good patch.

I didn´t beta test the patch, but I have a good feeling about this one, and this is why:

If this one goes the right way more people will buy 2142.

The engine of BF2 is used in bf2142, so they are using this patch to test and erase all the glitches that may come in bf2142.

I think the internet code of both games will be very similar so what we will see in bf2 we should expect in bf2142, if they can´t fix the internet code in this patch bf2142 will be delayed.


They beta tested it with a lot of people...so they have a lot more feedback in what exploits people can find on this game.

Finally and more important, if they don´t get this one right, at least the major bugs I wont buy BF2142 .

I tested the beta for about 4 weeks.

I too have faith in 1.4, esp as:


a) the server crashes have been fixed,
b) we need less players to start a game on a ranked server,
c) a pretty cool new map,
d) unlocks back on unranked servers,
e) transport choppers get their armor back !!!!
f) Red/blue tag bug fixed (note: this is the first patch to claim to have fixed it)



The only problem is that the non-public beta testers of 1.3 claimed that the final patch they tested wasn't the one that was actually the final release.

16 & 32 = 6 players.
64 = 8 players.

· Adjusted the minimum number of players to start the round. The new values for 16, 32 and 64 players are 6, 6 and 8 respectively.

I'm looking forward to 1.4, and hope that in the amount of time they have had, it will be a worthwhile patch, a bit like what 1.5 did for 1942.

To be honest, 2142 doesn't appeal to me at all, it's not based on a genre that I enjoy, so that's strike one against not buying it.

After seeing how things have panned out with BF2, i.e. failed patches, stupid changes made, and a general feeling that the community were not kept updated as often as they should, I really don't think 2142 will be any different - strike two.

Sure, the added ranks, unlocks and customization are really good ideas, but I hate the style of play the stat system has brought onto us.

Tell you what, playing the Peacekeeper mod recently (unranked), was a real wake up call as to how ranked play really blows.

I wish Dice the very best with 2142, but this is one long time BF fan that won’t be following the masses, I'm now focused on the upcoming BF2 mods.....

It is just a pitty that the minigun doesn´t get back to it´s old glory.

If the minigun came back, I think they should lose the armor, otherwise we'd be back to square one with chopper whores.

The best fix would be to give the blackhawk .50 cals, and the added armor, that way they have the ability to put down pretty accurate fire, without the stupid whoring ability.
