1.4 Patch installation Query - PLEASE RESPOND

Okay, here's the deal:

2 hard-drives. Both Western Digital. BF2 installed on the secondary hard drive, not the master. Runs perfeck. No problems. I need now obviously to patch it to 1.4 to continue online play. Plus, I want to play the new map. I can't patch it when using the drive it's installed on as the master drive, because it crashes periodically and I don't want to lose BF2 all-together. I can, however, access the secondary drive when it's the slave without any lock-ups or crashes. Both HD's are SATA drives. My M/B is SATA enabled - ASUS P5ND2 SLi Deluxe - so no issues there. What I'm asing is this:

How do I patch this version of BF2 to 1.4 patch?

unless i'm not reading your post correctly, you're simply asking whether the patch will be applied if you have bf2 installed on a secondary drive. i wouldn't expect a problem--shouldn't the patch read the registry and "know" where bf2 is installed?
