i have two questions

who here has ever gotton a kill from a gun port of a apc. and who here thinks that infantry and a apc should work together like a bradly and an infantry squad in real life i think it would be cool but it could give your position away. there are alot of opinion whats yours. :)

well i have gotten lots of killes from an apc its all about timing really, and the luck of the DH whos standing there, or running for a C4 kill. that would be good to provide cover for you teammates with the apc but i dont think a game like BF2 would relaly work with that. since most solders who drive teh APC wouldnt give a F about the infrantry unless it was your squad in which case they would just hop in.

1. yes ive gotten kills from an apc port. very easy, especially if ur driver sits in one place by an enemy spawn point and doesnt move. also it helps to switch ports alot.

2. i for one dont use that tactic much because it only comes with 2 results:
A.) i end up getting punished for teamkills because my squadmates keep runinng in front of me or...

B.) we get hit with an arty strike and we all get annhilated.

I have NEVER scored a kill, as infantry, from inside an APC..

It's a cool feature, just usually hard to pull off due to field-of-vision being pretty bad.

The gunport sucks ***. Its weak and overheats very fast. But I have gotten 3 or 4 kills with it in my year of playing BF2.

it's a means of transport, just gives you something to do while your in it. Like sitting on the back of your teammates moving car, the visions is expansive, but hard to hit anything. I wouldn't want to feel completely useless from with an APC, and I feel like a target for all spec ops when i can not see or hear anything. I only jump in a teammates APC if there is an arty strike because of the damage it can take compared to mine, and if it is my only available ride (else I will take a car any day).

So yeah, the guns for show and stop you from being bored, inpenitrable window take may as well have a gun. Else what's stopping anyone from lightly tossing a grenade through an APC window??
The window is just so you know where the hell you are I guess..

I've got a couple kills, and driver kill assists from spawning in the APC from my camping squadleader. Then running up to take the flag while he covers. Not bad

I too have killed a few poor saps from the little gun port. Another issue with the gun port of the APC, which directly ties to weakness of the gun and the limited field of view, is that whatever I start to shoot, the driver generally kills in a few hits. This means I get more driver assisted kills than kills, but I have gotten a few well earned kills.

Another issue with it is that many drivers don't pay attention to the fact that he has one or more side gunners and he always points the APC nose towards the action letting his gunners look at a hill on one side and a wall on the other.

I love killing with the APC side guns, simple because of lack of opportunity, lack of power and field of view limitations I feel I have truly accomplished something in the game. Anyone can nade spam, only a true soldier can kill someone from an APC side gun. That was a joke, well sort of.

I've gotten 3 or 4 kills with the port gun and I've been playing the game ever since the day it was released. It's worthless.

ive gotten like 4 or 5, only because ive learnt to time my shots. i do like randomly using it to fire at random crap, the ride is so much more fun. maybe EA could increase the usefullness of the port guns by giving it more damage.

yeh they are pretty pointless but fakesound made an excellent point, most mounted guns on vechicles are pretty useless while moving so they are there for entertainment until you stop (apart from the APC ports, which are usless all round)

i dont know, its, its...ummm its pretty good
