Hehe, just wanted to know if I am the only one here who also likes space strategies like Master of Orion series, or rpgs such as Freelancer. I cant wait to get my hands on Dark Star One...

Re: Planets, stars, galaxies, Universe
Freelancer was a great game, especially with some of the mods that added more ships and ship upgrades (like shields, and whatever) and more planets/systems.
I forgot the names of the mod that I used, if I can remember it, I'll probably start playing it again. That game was loads of fun. -

Re: Planets, stars, galaxies, Universe
Erm I dont think so. Elite anyone, Frontier: Elite II & Frontier: First Encounters arguably the best space sim ever made. To date there's never been a game come close to what FFE had. 21 years after its release FFE is still going strong.Originally posted by Sub_zer0Thats horrible you didnt say homeworld once and homeworld > all others

Re: Planets, stars, galaxies, Universe
I would say it practically doubles the amount of systems in the original, along with modifying all of the current systems. As well seemingly tripling the amount of ships in the original game.Originally posted by punkpber16Did evolutions add in more universes/systems?
Homeworld was one of the best strategy games I had ever played. When it came out it was revolutionary and is still a great game to play. I sorta missed when the original poster said strategy games also. Soon as my eye caught Freelancer I only read what was around it.Originally posted by Sub_zer0Thats horrible you didnt say homeworld once and homeworld > all others

One more game to mention though: Infinity.

And these are from the Combat Prototype.

Go to www.fl-tw.com for more information on the game. The first three screenshots are a year old, so the game has progressed much since then. The second set are from the Combat Prototype, which is a public "game" to test out the combat gameplay mechanics. The most impressive feature of the engine is 100% seamless space to ground transitions, go to the website and download some of the videos, you will be impressed.Comment

Re: Planets, stars, galaxies, Universe
purdey looks awsome. looking over website could be a really really good game
just a heads up
so it should be betterThe combat prototype is NOT the game !
This is a completely separate program that only shares the engine. It does not represent what you will find in Infinity. Its goal is, namely, to test: the graphics engine, the physics engine, the networking engine, experiment with controls / combat mechanics / balance, to improve stability/fix bugs and measure/stress performance.Comment

I've been watching the development of that game as well, its coming along really nicely. Have you seen Entropy as well? http://binstar.com I know the guy who develops Infinity does follow the development of Entropy.
Both are looking to be good games, when they come out in 3 years.
edit: not to mention they both take inspiration from the Elite series.Comment
