DivX Codec help.

I'm using VirtualDub for compression. I just downloaded the DivX 6.2.5 Codec. It encoded one of my files perfectly, and very fast (like 60FPS) so I was amazed with it. The quality is pretty decent too for the fastest encoding speed.

But the video that I encoded was taken at 640x480. When I try to encode 1024x786 videos (which is every video I have, except the one) it gives me an error. Any ideas? I'd really like to use this Codec for all my video files, it's very fast and has good quality for the compression.

EDIT: Since I haven't had any replies so far, atleast tell me if anyone else has this problem with 1024x786 resolution and 6.2.5 codec? I have 15Gigs of videos ready to be compressed.

I render to 720x480 or 640x480 myself. I don't think 1024x768 is necessary.

Fair enough, so I should buy the Pro version? Because the free codec doesn't allow resolution changing.

Still, shouldn't it work with 1024x786? The width is a multiple of 4 and the length is a multiple of 2...

its 768, SIXTY EIGHT, not 86. Try that.

Even though it's for the web try to stick to regular resolution Standards.

I don't have the option of changing the resolution unless I buy the Pro version codec...

Yea margav, I found XviD so I've been using that. It doesn't let you control as many settings as DivX, so the quality doesn't come out as good, but it's better than anything else I can use.

What are you compressing with? Virtual Dub? Vegas? Premiere?

If you use Premiere at least you just set the resolution in your project settings and dont have DivX do the resolution.

convert it into MP4 !

Simply don't use 1024x768, it's a pretty silly resolution for video.

even 800 x 600 is odd, 720x480 or 720x576 are preferable, also widescreen is EXTREMELY underused.
