    Lags!

Hey, Listen, everytime I join any server, I get huge lags, and gradually decreasing until it's over - after 7-10 minuts.
The first ones are so big, the spawn screen takes 10 seconds to load / 3 frames.

    Any help is welcome!

      Oops forgot that.

AMD Athlon X2 4400+, but using only one core because bf2 does not support dual core processors

      OCZ 512X2MB RAM

      Leadtek 7800GTX Extreme 256MB

      DFI LanParty UT NF4 Ultra-D

          That's 2 sticks of 512 = 1gb... :)
You think? It will take monthes till i'll have to money for another 1gb :/

Hmm, well if your running everything on High with 1GB of RAM it's going to chug along. Drop the textures down to Medium and the stuttering should be a bit better, to run textures on High it's best to have 1.5~2GB of RAM.

                Re: Lags!

A Jazza Said its your ram giving you the grief. There is 2 ways to get around this:

                1. Drop your graphics settings untill you reach an acceptable level.

                2. Buy another gig of ram.

Bad choice on the ram you got (2x512), because if you do buy another 2x512 of the same ram to total 4x512 you wont be able to run them with a CMD of 1 (1T). Which results in a drop in memory bandwidth.

                  Re: Lags!

If the only solution is to reduce the graphics, I can stand those lags. They are gone after a few minuts...

And sorry I didn't understand what you are saying about the CMD. What's CMD anyway? :)

                  /edit
Last defrag was like a week ago... same for spyware and stuff. The computer is well-maintained.

                    Re: Lags!

CMD is the command rate of your ram.

Command Rate (CMD): The command rate specifies how many consecutive clock cycles need to be sent to the memory modules before the modules can send data. Because wires often have natural capacitance on them, sometimes it takes longer for a wire to transition from a 1 to a 0. The CMD setting is typically one or two clocks and can often be adjusted between the two. It’s represented as 1T or 2T.

Check your BIOS & motherboard manual to check if you have the option of turning on 1T. Most Mobo's have it set to 2T by default. If you can change it to 1T it will ease your stuttering because it will give you more memory bandwidth.

                      Re: Lags!

I don't wanna mess with the BIOS and this stuff, I have a special gift that everything I thouch is destroys + extreme curiosity, I learnt a lesson from all of my mistakes not to mess with these things.

So if i'll buy another two sticks of 512, you say i'll have less memory bandwidth? Well when i'll buy them i'll post. Everything at its time :)

                      Thanks!

No I didnt say that, I said if you were going from 1T to 2T you would see a drop in bandwidth.

In short get another gig of ram and you will be fine.

Well I only have 512. I run on Medium and sometimes high it runs very smoothly with no lag. Do you have any other computers on while you play ? This is my problem also, when I turn on my BF2 my game lags because of the other computer. When you first start up wait lik 20 seconds for the lag to go away.
