I am having problems installing BF2 on my computer, I put in the first CD, it loads fine, but when to asks for the second one, i put it in and hit retry like it asks and it just sits there. I have tried it about 20 times or so all to the same effect. What am i doing wrong?

does it read the cd or does the installer become unresponsive ie "not running" (frozen) in task manager -

It seems to freeze up, but if i pull the cd out it pops up again and says please insert disc 2. After you put in disc 2, it just sits there. I am able to exit out and everything if i want with no trouble.Comment

Either there is a problem with the CD or the DVD/CD ROM cant read it. I heard from people here that replacing the DVD/CD ROM helped. this issue was discussed in a thread couple of days ago but i am not sure wait for the expert to answer you or use the search button in the forum to find the solution to the problem, good luck.Comment

well it must be the cd rom then, althought howcome it's CD 2? I mean, if 1 loads then why not 2.... I will look for that thread and see if that helps.Comment

well you could do this but it would be loooooong but would save you $$ from buying a new cd/dvd drive. you could make a image of each cd and then get software like alcohal 120 or daemon tools and mount each image and install it that way.Comment

Try installing bf2 on different on different computer if it was stuck in the second CD then the problem is with the CD so you should change it, or if it installed in the other pc then u should change the DVD/CD ROM and buy new one simple enough I guess and for the wrong link I am sorry it was 4:00 AM morning so dont blame me :p.Comment

lol... i got it to install using alcohol... thanks for all your help. Now, i guess my graphics card isn't good enought.. Is there a PCI graphics card that will run bf2?
Because my ATI Radeon 9250 just insnt good enought.Comment

I am having similar trouble on a laptop, which I can't swap the cd-rom out of.
So far... I think my solution seems to be working.
I created a folder on my C:\, called BF2 containing three sub-directories, disk 1, disk 2, and (you guessed it!) disk 3.
Be sure to copy ALL the files over from the disks.
Then run the "setup.exe" on disk one.
All three disks installed just fine. At least they appeared to and it was very FAST. Like 5 min for the entire thing.
I'm installing the latest patch now... but I did start it up as a test and it did start... WITHOUT asking for the CD. Kewl!!Comment
