Which kind of missile system was your favourite. For jet/chopper pilots.

Im working on setting up a topic for DICE feedback forums with a viable tweak on jets/missiles. Nothing big, just as small and simple so it wont change the game and gives DICE a good idea to what to change. Complete with details of course. Since I personally have at least 3-5 solutions in mind, its best to ask the community what they think first.

First, let me explain a little how a missile works.

Missile relocks and remaneuvers on a target every 30 milliseconds (theory, since number 30), missiles maneuvering capabilties with current settings give them a vast capability radius. As it stand right now, no jet can evade a missile*, because missile doesnt lose the jet from its view range, and its maneuverability is vastly superior.

*Due to DICEs bad jet engineering, heatsource of a jet is in different parts of the body, depending on each jet, also note that rear hitbox mesh design is flawed, you have deflection problems. This can be "fixed" or at least brought closer to better results.

*Pre 1.2 patch, missiles were less maneuverable than jets and had a wide lock angle (less hits on high pitching targets plus a lot of relocks and teamkills) (Fact)
**1.2 missiles were more maneuverable than jets and had the same wide lock angle (great hit capabilities, but also a lot of teamkills) This is where DICE set the alarm button off and tried to fix the teamkill problem, and they didnt know that flawed hitbox mesh and heatsource position is going to crap out on them, which leads us to post 1.2. (theory/fact)
***1.3, missiles have the same maneuverability. However, problem is in lock angle. Once the missile gets too close to the heatsource, instead of impacting where the hitbox mesh SHOULD be, the missile loses the sight of the heatsource and goes off. OR, it goes after the heatsource but doesnt impact with the mesh because its set at an angle. F35B has a flat back-side BTW. Missiles have no problem with hitting. And heatsouce is at the rear end, so that means theres no problem in tracking. (Theory)

Which leads me to a question-

*Do you want missiles that dont hit, and sometimes cause teamkills/ often cause teamdamage. Pre 1.2?
**Do you want missiles that hit, often cause teamkills and teamdamage, 1.2?
***Do you want missiles that chase some jets better than others, thought have a high kill rate, and cause less teamkills/teamdamage, 1.3?

To be honest, all this patching makes me want to revert... but I've adapted and I'll take it any way it comes.

all missiles will tk, but 1.2 took down the most friendlies. 1.12 was reasonable, but would be best like colin said, with bits of revised code to make tks less likely.

I think I have come to the conclusion I dont want them chanced at all.

If there are any tweaks, I hope it will be "intelligent" missiles, that stop tracking friendlies while loosing target and become stray-missiles.

The missiles hit, even J10 from F-35. Its just tricky, but I am sure I have found the method.

Nope, thats not possible. If it tracks well, it tracks well. The reason missile deflection is happening is because the lock angle is tighter than 1.2, thats also why there are less TKs. If you want effective missiles, you have to widen the angle, which means missiles will find more targets once they pass flares. Which is why its so famn fvcking hard to find a viable solution, and create a fully working missile system. The way the hitboxes and heatsignatures are designed it only leaves you 2 options, hit them all or dont hit them all. Fvcking nightmare, isnt it?

If you need to click twice to down jet A and work your fvcking brains out to kill jet B, and all this because theres a flaw in the design balance, we have a problem. We have a bug, and this bug needs to be fixed. This isnt a gameplay balance issue anymore. This is as serious as CTD.

There is no way to create "intelligent" missiles, unless you crate a non-TK missiles, FF off missiles kinda like FF-Off mines. But they will still chase friendlies and waste flares...

Attack and retreat, that works kinda okey.

There are ways to evade missiles even in the F-35, but they require flares. After that it is up to the pilot in the jet to choose the right way out of his enemies path.

I dont mind having to gun down the wingman to get two down i a row. I dont calculate with taking down two at the same time if they arent REALLY crappy pilots. If you think both jets should be easy to ground, then I suggest you as well vote for the 1.2 missiles.

I have learend even more by reading posts made by you, so thanks. But as the maps are made, when PLA lamejoins to US because of the base-advantages, then more skilled players will be on US as well as on MEC/PLA.

Quote me for my "no-tweaks" to DICE. If they know things we dont, they might not give up sticking to this balance

So, watching the poll numbers (shy though....), people dont mind the teamkills?

I'm using 1.22 right now, and that's how I want it to be. But you only had 1.2 so I guess the 1.3 option sounds best. But I think the AA missiles (coming from stingers, iglas and linebackers) are WAY to good, on open maps like dragon valley it's practically impossible to avoid

Why in the hell would anyone want AA nerfed back to 1.12? its crappy enough as it is in 1.3. They definately need to make the AA TV guided, then no one would have any problems.

its not that serious. every game has things that have advantages and big disadvantages. but yea its not nice since it was untested adjustments made to missiles because people whined and we never had to put up with it before.
