I can no longer play! please help!

Pentium 4 3.2, 1gb ram, Radeon 9800 pro 128 graphics, plenty of fans!

For the last year I have been playing BF2 no problems. Took a month leave (must have lost my senses!!) and tried to come back to it.

On first try I get to the server screen no problem, join a server and hit join game. The sound comes up, the screen for pick a spawn point comes up and then the mouse quits, I cannot force quit, cannot jump back to desktop, have to reset the computer.

Tried uninstalling, loading up the original game (clean install), downloading the 1.3 patch (full not incremental) and get the same problem.

If there are any pointers for me to try I would be grateful to hear them, otherwise I am considering a complete reboot of my operating system!!! I am missing the game now!!!

Do not have any of the "extra" games such as armoured fury etc, just the basic BF2.

wait so when u join the game, ur mouse freezes?

it is your controls.con file
it is failing to recognize the mouse

just copy the controls.con from you default profile

hint - this is why I have a copy of all my profie folders :P

or u can try going into ur controls in options of the game menu and set them to default

just wait patch 1.4 is comming soon and will fix this hopefully :)

Thanks for the replies. Will try the profile fix, or at worst wait for the 1.4 patch.

Just wait for the patch like HIV said. My computer does the same at the moment and was fine before the patch. Has been working fine since the patch but freezes have been more and more common lately.

I would never wait this long. When I had a crappy graphics card I still tried all my best to make it work. I think I had the same exact problem but not on BF2. I just went on my other computer and copied the file to a floppy. I added it to the folder and it worked. If you are still having problems I would do a complete computer reformat save you some time. It always makes the computer feel better =)
