I fly JS for both helo and jet. When gunning in a helo I can usually tell when someone is flying with keyboard and mouse. Seems like they can't keep the helo steady for to long. Always correcting there position. Not saying this is bad or good. Just can tell the diffrence.

It's a personal prefrence, when I first started playing 1942 I tried key+mouse. Couldn't get the hang of it. Then when DC came out I broke down and got a JS. Worked for me and I could now fly the things I wanted to.

I use a nice [dare i say this] Fifa2002 world cup games pad. it has about 100 buttons and a nice rubberised feel. just the touch makes my heart tingle. It's top for a copter but i'm always a bit wobbly when it comes to jets. Saying that i wish all air vehicles were removed from bf2 apart from the more transport style copters. sry, don't know their names.

I just can´t seem to fly proper with k/m combo. I tried with js and was much more easier.
But I don´t fly much, so I don´t know wich is better If you want to be an ace with helos.

I personnally prefer the Joystick for all air vehicles. I just find it alot easier to use the throttle and I think that it's a little less touchy than the mouse.

I have no joystick hence I will never ever get my aviator badge.

I can fly transport better than attack helos, I prefer to be gunner in those.

okay, I've took the ignorance with a grain of salt and tried to remain polite about it, but now I'm pissed. Trail you're a fu**ing retard and should be shot, I have my aviator badge and hundreds if not thousands more do who have not ever touched a joystick. I'm sure you'll go on to invent the flying house or something to the effect since your such a fu**ing genuis blessed with the ability to evaluate everything 3-dimensionally.

lol I consider myself a good attack chopper pilot, and I say a joystick is the best for flying..

because mouse/KB you have to keep moving it, and lifting the mouse up... etc...

Joystick is just so much easier, and you can do any type of acrobatics a billion times easier. Also better throttle control, and all of the buttons are right there.

I'm not debating whether or not it's easier with a JS Metallica, but my buttons are all "right there as well." All I use is my arrow keys,shift key, and everything else is on my mouse. And if you have your settings configured correctly, lifting the mouse off the pad what 3 or 4 millimeters if that for a split second doesn't make a difference if your sensitivity is where it needs to be. You guys really get carried away with this JS topic like joysticks are god or SS. Yes, maybe in this game and otthers they are ergonomic for flying; but as for whether the argument they can straight up own anyone and everyone who uses a mouse and KB, that's BS and myself and many others have proven it time and time again.

i agree with the majority of posts here. i use a mouse/keyboard for chopper and joystick for jet. i've gone on empty servers to play around with using the joystick with a chopper and it's a lot less responsive for me than k/m controls. jets on the other hand seem easier with joystick than k/m. at the end of the day there is no right answer, it's whatever you're most comfortable with. but, having said that, it's probably not a coincidence that you're seeing in this thread most people using the same controls choices (chopper-k/m, jet-joystick).
