Keep trying eventually you will connect. I guess it has something to do with the patch?

I have read something about the last windows update making CTDs on BF2... did you update windows (like 2 days ago?)?

Try to uninstall those updates if is that the case..

the connection problems piss me off more than anything! they always happen at the worst times like right before the end of a round right where u wouldve gotten a sh*tload of points or when uve just gotten an award.

This is what makes BF2 exciting... waiting 5 minutes for the game to load and hoping you don't get a CTD.

I used to suffer through this horrible problem as well, even before the windows update. DO NOT CLICK JOIN SERVER. Wait until the load happens naturally... usually about 30 to 45 seconds after the join button appears.

I think it has something to do with the game not quite finishing the punkbuster verification process before you join causes the game to crash.

Anyways that is how I prevent it and I never get dropped from server on joining now.

When it happens to me, I reboot my PC. Then everything is dandy again.
I dunno, I have 2GB RAM, but probably only barely enough for BF2.
