now - the purpose of Controls.con is the file that gets edited every time you make changes to your 'options settings' in bf2

and you know all those error messages you get that says
"... cannot use key - already in use?" (or something like that !)

well - it is because the key is defined in controls.con
and EA/DICE was too lazy to allow us easily access

but you can edit it by hand
I have remapped many of my keys this way

one of the most important
I remapped by escape key into F8
so I know longer 'crash to menu when my forearm bumps the escape key
also changed squad talk to left window, etc

be careful = make sure you do a backup first
and after you make all your edits
make and hide a copy of the new version as well
