I just had a idea. The light bulb, however normally dim, just lit up on my head.
We all know this is true in pub servers. There are lots of players that are more concerned with thier stats then winning the match. For example, how many times have you seen an emeny APC roll into an uncap on Gulf when that enemy has no or only 1-2 flags and down by 100 points? I see it a lot. Why is that APC driver in the MEC airfield? Well simple, he wants kills. He doesn't care about winning, he just wants to pump up his score. This is a mini-scenario of what happens over and over again in games where players are more concerned with thier score than actually winning.
Well, I know its too late for BF2 now, but it would have been great if there was more of an emphasis on WINNING the match.
Several things could be used as incentive for WINNING the match:
1: Double the score for all winning players on the winning side, not just the commander.
2: Make capturing flag points worth more than 2 points. Make them worth 4 for Neutralizing it, and 4 for capturing. And 3 and 3 for assists.
3: Impose a penalty for killing in an uncap area when your team has no flags.
These are just some ideas off the top of my head. But if you rewarded players for WINNING the match, the emphasis would not be so much on spawn camping and running up scores. You would have to pay more attention to what's going on in the game overall, instead of just trying to be a killing machine. If you're winning and start spawn camping, not paying attention to the rest of the map, the losing side may turn the game around and all of a sudden, you're losing, and you're not going to get your score doubled. Now you have to get back in the game and play as a team to try to get the WIN. No longer will you be padding your stats, you'll be trying to WIN.
Any ideas?
