i think noobs should play unranked, they get in the way, seriously, my goal is to win, if all the armor and air assets are fing around, greedy or just plain bad, the team will suffer.
You have a good attitude, so don't get discrouaged! A lot of people have been playing since day one, and know the maps, the kits and the vehicles inside and out. This means they have a lot of knowledge and experience, so it's inevitable that you will die a lot.

(Also, to learn how to fly the jets and the helicopters (both attack and transport) just try singleplayer, or start a lan server and fly away!)
You were a noob too once, everyone has the right to play ranked.
I think their should be a two weeks for noobs to train in BF2 and learn to play the game better. This would be in Ranked server, but their should be a admin or something to train them for real BF2 battles.
I found it to be a really hard game to learn and get semi-OK at playing. Very frustrating at first, lots and lots of deaths. During my first hundred hours or more, I had about .30 KDR and got spanked by everyone and everything, all the time, especially artillery and anything in the air.
BUT... it all changes for the better. Persevere through the learning curve, and you'll discover an amazingly fun and extremely addictive game. I've got over 400 hours now, and don't feel like it's been wasted time at all.
I'd advise you to:
1) use your ears. There are tons of sounds in the game that will help keep you alive, from vehicles to distant arty to aircraft and bombs.
2) Don't use English-only voice overs: it helps to hear enemies talking.
3) Also, compare what you hear versus what you see on the mini-map. I hear sniper rifles, but don't see anyone on the mini-map, so I go follow my ears, and often discover unaware snipers in need of a knifing or pistol to the head.
4) Set the mini-map so that it rotates with your movement. Makes it much easier for me at least to visualize the situation around me.
5) Use nades. You can throw them a long way.
6) Use pistols. Headshots take 2 but they're very fast.
7) Use knives. Don't get excited, just get close and knife from behind.
8) Tag along with better players in squads, go as Medic or support, and do what they tell you.
9) Dive to the ground when someone tries to run you over.
10) Enjoy the carnage.
Ah and don't forget to not play on Knife and Pistol only Servers/ High Point Servers (With specific rules as do not use armor) Those are illegal and will get your stats wiped..
Please do not use full servers as a means to practice using various tools of the game/team. Starting from tanks up to commander mode. Please. Try Single Player or LOCAL server.

I think you should avoid playing with people with attitude like this ^^. Find a good clan/community that doesn't hold views like "no noobs allowed" and have fun. I rather have a noob in my squad with good attitude and willing to learn over the "L33Ters and cheaters" anytime.

Don't worry about being a new player. Attitude and respect for others are more important than rank or play-time. Many people with high ranks can still act in the most noobish, selfish manner imaginable. Ignore them as best you can.
Your skills will develop, just be patient, join a squad, learn the maps and take that extra second to aim your weapon.
It's a telling sign of this "community" that no-one picks up on the fact that this other player drops C4 at your feet, threatening to TK you, instead of saying something like: "I'd like to be on this rooftop alone for stealth purposes - would you mind finding another place?"
Best advice: have very very low expectations of the "community" when it comes to teamwork, manners, language, attitude and maturity" - then you won't be discouraged or disillusioned..lol.
Spend some time finding the kind of servers where people aren't stat-junkies and/or don't act like spoiled infants and you may very well find some favorite servers that you can enjoy. Your chances are better on unranked servers btw.
techncially we are all n00bs just on different level of n00biness. Some points which helped me have been:
A. watch and learn from experienced players (team mates, clan mates, friends)
B. if you want to get more experience with vehicles (tanks n stuff) play on 32 player servers hosting 64player maps, so there is enough equipment standing around without players getting aggrivated about access to tanks etc.
C. Don't use nades if you don't know EXACTLY where u throw them...TKs will make nobody popular (regardless if n00b or expernienced player)
D. If by accident you do TK a team mate...apologies. Manners are (ingame and real life) always a plus.
E. Avoid planes and choppers on ranked servers until you are familiar with them
F. Medics who are great in reviving team mates are always popular
G. It is a bleeding game....so forget my points and just try to have a good time. It's a game and not school
Funny that you say that I've already been banned from a Infantry only server for team killing. Oops...my bad. I wasn't trying to be a jerk I saw a tank and hopped in and next thing you know I'm on the outside looking in. To the people of that server sorry dudes!

I would suggest that you don't really have to wait before trying out jets and choppers. Start up a local server or just find an empty server and have a bit of a fly around making sure you can take off and land ok - 5 minutes should do it.
Once you can do that you've got just as much right to use them as anyone else no matter how new you are.
You might want to leave APC's and tanks for a bit though until you get to know the maps a little better. Armor and APC's can make a big difference to a battle and if you don't really know what you're doing or where you should be going it could impact your teams performance and annoy people. Plus you'll probably last 10 seconds anyway before being taken out.
Like the guys said, stay in a squad and follow people around (preferably your own team :-), not only is that a good way to learn, it's also the way BF2 is meant to be played.
Also, if you're playing on a ranked server (which you probably will be), admins are not allowed to tell you to get out of jets / heli's / etc. If you get in a jet or heli it's tough if they want it, you were there first.
I tend to get a laugh out of them whether I'm gunning 'em down for the 5th time, or I'm watching them utterly fail to fly a chopper.
Just so long as they don't get me killed or stop me from doing what needs to be done. Ie, don't TK me. Don't take vehicle assets that you don't know how to use. Don't step into my line of fire while I'm sighting an ememy. And for the love of god, please stop running me over!
