    New guy observations

First of all I'm having a blast! Just had a few observations :

    1. I die a lot! I'm not surprised by this, I'm still learning. I fat finger the enter vehicle and forward constantly. Have to say the funniest death last night was right after I spawned I look to my right and down on the ground somebody has an M-16 pointed at my crotch "Damn i..." dead.

    2. Me and another player captured the last flag in Gulf of Oman map. So I follow him up to the roof top figuring we would work together to defend the flag. Next thing I know he throws a pack of C4 at my feet and is holding the detonator staring at me. Guess you don't want me around, I give him a "sorry" and are on my way. I think he may of been the same guy that I nailed with a head shot as a sniper when he was on the opposing team while standing next to a flag in the Dragon Valley map.

I'm not expecting to be welcome with open arms, but how do most well established players feel about a noobs? Get out of my server looser or Welcome aboard!

Depends on what impressuon you leave. If youre new to the game, wanna learn and whatnot, and you lack only in skills. Then its allright. If you lack in attitude aswell, then its GTFO time for you LOL

We were all noobs once, seems like you lack some skill of combat. Few more months and you'll be better and better, try not to piss other people off by taking their jets or helis. And tanks in that matter. Most people dont automatically press tab to look at what rank they are when they see you, but it depends on the behaivor on the person, the guy could be an ace at provate, or still a noob at gunny sergent. All depends on the combat and driving//flying, especially if you drive like in the pwned life, they will get mad.

I'd say most players want to try and be cool by avoiding noobs and bad-mouthing them. Redfield is right though. It depends on how you act and your attitude for the most part. A lot of people are impatient and get angry rather quickly. Others are willing to help explain things. Just remember to squad up and follow your squad leader... and be quiet when behind enemy lines.

Welcome to the game. I dig the sig, BTW. Where you at in the world? I'm sure some people here would show you some things.

do what i did when i started, get a mic squad up call things out and for good measure throw some fake squad tags on your name. then everyone think you made a new account or have the ranking bug.

                    Welcome

Unfortunately the word N00b and OMFGWTF GET OUT OF MY F*CKIN CHOPPER YOU N00b WHORE!111!! Are a common site on some pub servers. Comments like these aren't generally thrown at noobs in particular but are used as a common language for some people regardless of how much knowledge you may have. I personally think this type of banter is quite amusing and I very rarely respond.

However, this game forces knowledge upon you. It pushes you from the nest VERY EARLY and has you flying in no time. The game is so damn addictive that all you do is learn, learn, learn and for some(myself included) never gets boring to try out new tactics.

My advice to you would be:

                    1. Join squads. I can't stress how important this is! Lone wolfing is fine but you will pick up so much more joining a squad and sticking with your squad leader. While your at it, configure your voice settings so there not too loud/quite or distorting asking your squad as you test it.

                    2. Try and play all the kits early on to give you an idea of how they work.

                    3. Start a single player game and practice Jets and Hellies. There's nothing worse than trying to fly a chopper for the first time with unconfigured, unpractised controls and wiping out your squad.

                    4. Try not to get stressed! When total pleb runs in front of your tank and then punishes you for the team kill, try your hardest to dampen your enraged response.

                    5. Don't punish! For the love of God don't be one of the MANY that punish for the hell of it. REFUSE, RESIST. Unless, of course they are a total breast.

                    6. The pistol is your friend. Use it. Use it often.

                    7. Play the commander from time to time to get a better feel for the game.

                    8. Read the Tips and Tricks on this site. Lots of useful tactics and advice

                    Oh and....

Try not to be too shocked to find out what you thought was an hours worth of playtime turned into 12 hours. This game is a serious time sponge

Thanks it's good to know some BF2 edicate. I can see where some folks may get discoraged at first. I'm not expecting to be great out of the box. For now I will stay away from tanks unless sombody wants to give me a ride, and choppers. Again I'm having a great time, thanks for awnsering my questions.

I would suggest jumping straight into a tank and start blasting away

Funny that you say that I've already been banned from a Infantry only server for team killing. Oops...my bad. I wasn't trying to be a jerk I saw a tank and hopped in and next thing you know I'm on the outside looking in. To the people of that server sorry dudes!

Infantry only servers are illegal until the next patch, 1.4 comes out with its new gametype. Stay away from knife and pistol servers too, they are illegal.
