You have an older version than the server message

I keep getting this message on most of the servers that i try and join. I have (or at least think) installed 1.4 beta 2 but had this problem a few days ago before i updated with 1.3. The version number in BF2 is shown as 1.1.2716-548.0, what version does this represent? 1.3? 1.4?

I have only got vanilla BF2 so it cannot be the problem that i have read about on here with SF.

With this problem i only have about 4 servers that actually have people on to choose from and i would obviously want a bigger choice of server.

Does anyone know what this problem could be? and more importantly a solution?

If you patched with 1.4 and try and play on 1.4 servers that is the problem right there. You have to uninstall and reinstall the game and then patch to 1.3. A little extra time to read the READ ME file would save a hell of a lot of headaches...

If that is not your current problem, then I am not sure what it would be.

I did what it said in the Readme and made a back up of my 1.3 installation but this problem happened in 1.3 and continued to happen in 1.4.
