Just buff the crap out of the AA, then the jets wouldnt find time to down eachother as they are to busy trying to avoid being raped. Problem solved on all angles.

They already tried that in a previouse patch and then they had to nerf the AA because of the amount of protests (blame the community for that one)against its strength. I feel sorry for Dice in some respects there dammed if they do and there dammed if they dont.

DICE wrote the original Battlefield 1942. EA published it. Trauma Studios were the ones who made the Desert Combat mod for BF 1942. Trauma was hired by DICE Sweden (I think) to assist with BF2 parts. AFAIK, they made the defibrillators and such work.

Colin Clarke: Hey Guys, some players are still reporting join game CTD's (though not yet in beta 2?) and we want to make sure we have completely exterminated this and other stability bugs.
I did send you 2 CTD reports, from 1.4v2 .. So, hopefully they have been fixed

*** Fix the existing problems before u create new ones***

any reasonable person would have concluded this would be a much more appropriate approach to returning BF2 to its former glory. instead they find more ways to piss of the consumer. they beef up the one thing that needs to be nerfed the most (the J-10) and they introduce an entirely new, and mostly unwanted, style of gameplay, and have completely ignored every decent suggestion made by the people who know what would be best for the game.

what pisses me off the most is that after several months, and hundereds of threads worth of complaining and making suggestions about potiential fixes that would please the vast majority of the BF2 community, we find out that none of these problems have been properly addressed or even deeply taken into consideration. WTF EA?!!:wall:

TopGunGreg. Im afraid tweaking jets to match the desired result isnt just changing 1 line of code, one number. It spans through a different number of values. If you want a 10% increase in maximum speed, 10% increase in throtle alone will NOT bring this result. For example you have to alter mass, engine acceleration and possibly sprint factor. You also have to do some testing aswell. I estimate a J10s 10% maximum speed increase is about 30 minutes of work, provided that you know which lines to change, and you do some testing to be sure.

Thing is, DICE doesnt KNOW what to change, they dont have the experience. They know something is wrong, but they cant work on some random guys hunch, feeling, from TotalBF2 forums...

Im saying, we dont know all the facts.

Stand by today for a video presentation of my own jet/missile tweaking.

                    Chris:
                    technically you are right
I was making it simple as a point of illustration
BUT some things are HARD coded
eg , max speed at a given altitude
the J10 is higher at times than others
THAT can be changed in 1 second of coding
                    (ok = 1 minute :P)

and to change mass, thrust, etc, as I said
EASY these are data table entries

how can you suggest they do not know what to change>>>>????
there are some physics here that DO amaze me!!!
eg the recoil effects on armor if you are shooting sideways vs straight
                    now THAT is complex
but they do not have the skills to edit a thrust value??

not arguing with you Chris - we are on the same side here

                    hehe
                    BTW
one more thing that has always annoyed me
the jets turn better/tighter when going faster
this is BACKWARDS from real life !!

                    ps
                    you are a modder?
love to chat with you about it
                    maybe collaborate
                    drop me a PM

Re: Dear Colin Clarke (or anyone at DICE).

LOL. Im not a modder. Think of me as aguy who just bought a bicycle and has to work on a car engine.

You didnt understand me. Im saying that DICE doesnt know how the proper jet balance should look like (at least I get that impression). They have created true balance in inbalance in the original game. Where MEC has Mi-28, USMC had the BHAWK and PLA had the J10. Now the balance is broken. And thus jets have to be taken apart and put back together in order to create balance.

As for jets turning faster with more speed, its this and that. Jets turn sharper with afterburners (!), and little speed. At least thats what I discovered.

Im gonna list a detailed change log in the topic I just created about missiles, so you can satisfy your curiosity :P

Re: Dear Colin Clarke (or anyone at DICE).

Couple of points I have. If anyone plays BFME EA used a very crafty tactic to keep the community alive and thus waiting for BFME2. They put together a very small team (prolly one bloke in his coffee break) to write a beta patch. They then kept stating is would stop being in test or beta soon.

It was in beta so long BFME2 was released and I don't know for a fact but to this day it has never come out.

It did keep the BFME community quiet whilst they worked on BFME2 so from their point of view job well done.

I said this in countless threads reduce the armour on J10 by a third or at least half this achieves the following :-

                        1) Ground AA now three times more potent to the J10 then before
                        2) Cannons now three times more potent than before
                        3) Air to Air now three times more potent then before
                        4) Essex guns now three times more potent then before
                        5) I do not want the J10 style to be changed I like flying the J10 it's great fun, not because I can kill everything but just chucking it around.
                        6) I do not trust EA to make any complicated changes to the game this is one variable?

I know this will not work against the top 5% of pilots. However, generally on the servers that I play on I could kill most J10 pilots I could at the very least cause them to become so pre occupied with me that all they would do is to try and hunt me down at least giving my own choppers / ground forces a chance.

This is assuming we see a 1.4 patch at all of course

Colin Clarke needs to be fired from EA! Put in a guy who knows what he is doing and fix everyone's problem with the game. If the Claymores and J-10 are not Fixed, more problems will happen and more complanting will happen. I can't still that EA can't even listen to us! FIX THE Eng's Repair ponits! I can't stand haveing to fix both Arty and only get one repair point! Colin Clarke says he plays Eng alot, but he is Fing Lieing through his teeth! Because if he did play BF2, he would have fix the repair points! If he even played BF2, He would have a heart attack over the server crauhings, Tkers, Instanproners, Hackers, Whores, Bugs, glitches, and ALL the Problems of BF2. If EA would play their only game for just one day and see all the probems, they woud fix them all. Maybe. Becuase it secnes that NO ONE at EA can encode, Desigh, Decode, adjust, or even do basic progatting for a game. I don't know how BF2even is able to play or work most of the time! I don't think anyone at EA is Quafined to even make a game. I wish they would listen to us, Fire every people who works there, get new guys in there that know what they are doing, fix all problems, and everyone should be fine. But, That's a wet dream.

Ghost, pretty good post i tell that, but i have to disaggree with you on the Infantry Only. IO is what i play now. is pretty fun. trust me. the reason why i play IO is because i dont have to worry that in the middle of a street fight a tank is not going to show up and kill everyone. what you do is one one combat. about the no vehicles I am loving it so far. when we want to take a flag we do itwalking. we stop in each corner to cover each other. like in the military. the squad leader is always in the middle and everyone has a different kit. well we have two medics instead of one. that just an example of what we do. when i get tired of IO, I just go to another server and start driving the tanks or so.
