Using a controller to fly a plane.

I use a joystick 100% of the time, but I sat there looking at my Xbox 360 controller and wondered if I could use it. I can map buttons to it, but I cannot map the analog sticks to anything. Is there anyway to get the analog sticks to map to the controls?

Sorry if it has been discussed before. I did a search but alot of the topics didnt have anything to do with what I wanted.

I use my PS2 joypad, and I can map the controls to the analog sticks no problem.

Isn't the PS2 plug thing to big to fit in a USB port. Or am I wrong

lol, or you can get this like I did. I got mine in radio shack awhile back for about $10 USD.

Wouldnt a controller make it more difficult to aim and shoot then a mouse or arrow keys?

ive got a wired xbox360 controler and i can map everything on it, its pretty crap for flying though, a joystick gives you much more control

You could there are adapters for 90% of the console controllers out there. Plus PC controllers like the Xbox 360 USB one and some of them by Logitech. I think it would make it harder to fly unless you wanted to fly in 3rd person view because most console flight games are flown from the 3rd person view.

The funny thing is I only use the pad for flying only (jets/helo), cause I can't for the life of me fly with m/k combo. Actually I fly pretty well with it in 1st view (btw, I can't fly or drive in 3rd view). I use to play ace combat and rc stunt chopper on my PS and PS2.

Were you guys able to map buttons to the R & L Triggers? For some reason BF2 wont let me do it. So I had to map my fire buttons to the Bumpers. Kind of a shame really.
