    No arti, its all the players on your team, their score combined and divided by the numbers on your team. ( called mean average) then if you win this score is multiplied by 2

        That's the way it should be. A commander helps his troops do better he does better. But that isn't the only thing that goes into calculating the commander score... otherwise commanders would never get the gold medal and I have received all of my gold medals as commander, even after my team lost the round by a few tickets.

        See the average score can never be higher than the highest score on your team, hence it being called average. Arty strikes, kills, commands issued to squads, responses to squad requests for arty, supplies and UAV also add to your commander score.

          Radar you are wrong, read totalbf2 guide :

          Total score earned points by the team / # of players = Commander score.

            That is fine and dandy, but again it is mathematically impossible for an average score to be higher than the highest number used in the calculation. It is equally impossible for the average to lower than the lowest possible number used in the calculation.

            Example:
            Scores = 55, 100, 25, 15, 2, 65.
            Average = 43.66 (rounded)
            Commander Score = 115

            I have seen this. I have recieved all of my gold medals as commander, even when my team lost. The only way a gold medal is awarded is to have the highest score. Regardless if you think I am right or wrong, simple rules of the game (medals) and simple mathemathic rules (law of averages) tell me the commander score is not based on the average.

              OK, lets make this simple.

              You have 8 players on your team, and each player has 30 points. Your team wins the round (you get x2). Highest score on the other team is 40.

              Average=
              8x30=240 240/8=30 Hence your score is 30.

              Your team wins=
              30x2=60

              What this means...
              You have 60 points.
              Next highest on your team 30 points.
              Highest on other team 40 points.

              Henceforth you get the gold medal, with your team's average score.

                Arty and other commander assets DO NOT contribute to your score!!!

                  Okay I see how you are getting to that. The commander score with the 2x bonus is what is used to determine if the commander is eligible for the gold medal while everyone else's score is used without the 2x bonus. See I don't don't know half as much as you think I do.

                  Thanks for the clarification. please disregard my previous, ignorant posts as I was obviously, seriously, clueless.

                    In point of fact, supplies and artillery can cost you points. If a support trooper suppies ammo to a teammate, the support person gets a point and you get a percentage. If you drop a crate and the teammate avoids the ammo pack for the crate, you lose. You get no points for artillery kills but this does lessen your enemies tickets therefore leaving less tickets for your team to get. They get less points, you get less of a percentage. If you drop a crate on a wounded tank, or artillery, some engineer is denied a repair point and you are denied your percentage again. Don't get me wrong on this, you have to use supplies when it is apparent. Supporting your tanks, troopers and keeping your toys running are all important and more important than a percentage of one point.

                    I use artillery to support my team, but I don't use it to augment an already nearly insurmountable lead. I leave the points and the work to my team and direct them to the action. If I have an obvious engineer in the bunch, as opposed to repair my toys, I will direct him to support them when they are busted and point out the tank team to him.

                    Help your side get points. Get points yourself.
