That would be kinda of cool to start up at the same rank in BF2142 and havethe unlocks and stats. I think I a starting to like the tihink of B2142, this is a BIG maybe

I get the feeling BF2142 will be the first game with low earnings for DICE.

BF series were success because they featured real world weaponry and hardware.

Im set for Quake Wars.

I just got an email from Gamestop saying that if you preorder with them you automatically get free unlocks and you start at a higher rank than everyone else. This is totoally lame and I can't believe that EA/Dice is doing it, everyone should start at the same level.

Thats why I pre ordered it last week. You should too.. It's the same price..

I saw bf2 accounts being sold for more than 300 $ usd. Its a growing business, the first to realize it was Everquest. So why not sell it to get the dough yourself if it will happen anyway?

Purchase the game at the store if you don't want/need/request the rank up...big deal if they start out as a higher rank....I'll be knifing and owning anyway.

With 40 ranks it probably takes 50 points to acheive the free rank-up. Not a big a deal.

It says 40 ranks AND unlocks. I guarantee they are adding up the total of both & getting 40, not 40 each. Just like fantasy games where they say "over 100 spells, weapons, & skills" they really mean about 34 each.

Yeah it's unfair, but most of you won't be able to keep up with the Highest rankers on BF2, unless you can play every day and all day.

It has been confirmed that there are 40 unlocks, don't know how many "ranks" though...

Some of the unlocks are:
Med Pack
Revive Pack
Longer Sprint meter

From what I have read there will be a new type of point. Called Rank points or something, these will actually determine when you get your new rank.

Your global score will be added with points you will now get doing other things... like following squad leader commands, getting badges etc to form your Rank points which is earned for new ranks.

There is even talk about getting temporary unlocks while in a squad (for the match only) to encourage teamwork...

I think I will try it... but don't think the "rank up" is the end all be all...

The med pack is standard eqiupment now, not an unlock.

BF2142 should last just long enough till ET:QW comes out, I preordered because all the game shops around here are geared towards console gamers not pc gamers (they're a bunch of nimrods when it comes to knowing anything about PC games)
