10 Reasons why Mashtuur City is the best map out there
Re: 10 Reasons why Mashtuur City is the best map out there
Wake is my favorite map.
I don't know why, maybe I like a good challenge or the sea brings happy memories... :)
I love Mashtuur as well, but still Wake is on top.
Re: 10 Reasons why Mashtuur City is the best map out there
Me and my friends usually get together and lan, and one gametype we love to play is a sniper match. Mashtuur is a GREAT map for that (and I'm not even mentioning how great it is for normal play).
Next in my top3 are 2 maps from the unofficial X07 mappack. Hangar and street. They are so darn simple it pwns. Just a straight street with obstacles and buildings you can enter and a few back alleys. The hangar is even simpler. For sniper matches those are the best ev0r. For normal play my top 3 is Mashtuur on 1, sharqi on 2 and karkand on 3. Karkand would have been replaced by jalalabad if the patch 1.4 had gone official yet.
Re: 10 Reasons why Mashtuur City is the best map out there
Mashtuur is a great map. I love the road that goes all the way around the city. Also the fact you have to use strategy the most important base is your tank base if you loose that and they get both tanks you could loose. Sniping is amazing. With the flying buses you can pretty much get to any roof top and also some you can jump from one to the other which people don't expect and leads to great sniping. The bases are easy to cap so if one team isn't working together as well as the other or isn't as good as the other the round can be over in 3 minutes. Also I love how they have high places over each flag so I can pretty much defend them with C4 especially on the power generating in the power station.
Re: 10 Reasons why Mashtuur City is the best map out there
Mashtur is a great map, and just further proves what most BF2 players like (IMO.) Urban, even mix of tight and open spaces, and no jets. The only thing I don't like is spawning the same things for both teams. I remember the best way to keep the BH out of the sky before was to cap the US main and hold it. No chopper spawn if MEC held it. Armor spawn should work the same way. If you take my spawn, you deny me that asset, getting to then use it against me only adds insult to injury (and makes it much harder for me to come back.)

My 10 Reasons Why Gulf of Oman is My Favorite Map...
The map has every vehicle (minus mobile AA, HMMVs, and Vodniks)
AA is at every flag minus the construction site
No silly J-10/F-35 advantage
Both sides have an uncap - no need to worry about your airbase getting taken
The map is large- but small enough to still be able to run on foot from one flag to the next
Great places to snipe
The map was chosen as the demo multiplayer map - everyone knows it well
View distance is much better than some of the other maps (Karkand... ungh)
Plenty of transport vehicles to double as Jihad-jeeps...
Lots of servers playing this map 24/7. Easy to find a good server
11. Takes us back to the days of the demo, when everyone was delirious with anticipation of the release of BF2, and how we were all awestruck when we booted up Gulf of Oman for the first time. Back before there were hotel glitchers, prone spammers, seat switchers, millions of whiners, server crashes, and CTDs.

Gulf of Oman is another great map, like Mashtuur it is well designed, beautiful, balanced, gives infantry, tankers and pilots lots to do. One of the best maps, I can never find a server for it

Same here, there are loads for US but none for Europe. I found a good multiplay server that was 24/7 Oman. Set it to favorites but it was always empty. When it was full it crashed frequently. Guess that's why it was empty.
When i was playing 1.4 Beta i was able to play 64 player very nice and lag free (hopefully, a sign of good things to come) and i managed to play a game of Oman 64 on a full server.
The infantry action between the forts of Oman was one of my favorite times i've ever had on BF2.
The bombers couldn't do much unless they wanted to get a ****load of TK's (a tactic that's good, get real close to the enemy and they can't arty you or bomb unless they want TK's, only n00bs want TK's - then they get kicked, which they did in the round i was playing ) and one of the good things was trying to run across the sand dunes from fort to fort without getting capped. Felt intense. A much more rewarding infantry experience than karkand. Can't wait to be able to play smooth 64 Oman again once 1.4 comes out.
Anyway, back on topic. I don't really like Mashtuur, it's abit of a snipers map. Can't blame them. Ladders everywhere and very little cover becuase of the huge open spaces. Yawn-fest.
