just remember, some shots still register even after you are behind the building because the model lags. Therefore you can still get hit.

funny you mention that because last night, i strafed into the open at the corner of a building to shoot a tank with my sraw, but then i died saying 'matasho is no more'. i guess the server thought i was behind a wall, even though i'm sure i fired in the open. haha that was pretty sad if i say so myself. i do find myself warping quite often at times though.

        You just need to practise.

Just make sure you don't leave yourself open for someone to shoot you if your guiding it.

The best shot I have ever done was on operation cleen sweep. I was MEC at the 1st base(nearest to US uncap). Some US player jumped in a boat at his uncap and just started firing at our helicopter. I was on a hill and saw the firing from the boat...only just it was miles away...literally. Anyhow, I aimed and fired and kept the firing in my sights because I couldn't even see the target, only the shots. I got him tho. I reckon it was a good 3-4 miles.

        Just practise. Practise makes perfect.

All good advise.... Heres a summary...

          1. When the outer ring of the scope turns red (when placed over the target) the armor will receive a buzzing warning. Reduce this by either 1. aiming slightly off target and move it in at the last moment or 2. Don't use the scope, you will not be able to guide the rocket but the tank won't get a warning either...

          2. Use cover. High ground is good but harder to hit the treads and also to relocate, so you will need more shots... Pop out from behind (or above) your cover and shoot then back to cover again, vary your angle of attacks as much as possible. It usually is sufficent to shoot from behind one side of a building then move to the other for your second shot, rinse and repeat.

          3. Distance Keep your distance, you have a smaller target but at the same time you're smaller too. Most armor whores only check a fairly short range when fired apon so they may miss you if you have proper cover.

          4. Spot First!!! Being AT you will die, its inevitable against a tank, at least the armor will be spotted so your teammates can finish it off. This is a general rule for almost any kit in this game as well...'

          5. Know your targets...

APC: 2 hit kill from virtually any direction/angle
          Tanks: Front body/turret 5 hits
          Front treads 2 hits
          Side Body/Turret 3 sometimes 4 hits
Side Treads 2 hits (very difficult shot if you hit between the tread rollers and angle down it will hit the treads, I never try this shot because its easy to hit the dirt and not the tank)
          Rear Body/Treads 2 hits.

So obviously for tanks you always want to hit from the rear or the sides... Not only does the tank not see you (as often) but you inflict more damage...

That may be true if you're alone or if you're more interested in points than helping the team. If you're a team player and there are others nearby you should just try to do as much damage as possible; someone else may be able to finish it off with another rocket or a few grenades. Maybe there's a specops with only 1 C4 pack left that can kill it if you damage it first.
There are 3 places to aim for: A= The front “roll” or the back “roll” of the treads. B= The bottom of the tank. C= The turrent of the tank.
AFAIK there is no special weakness to the turret in BF2. I don't know that the bottom is especially weak either; most likely the top and bottom are the same as a rear hit. So any of those would be the next best target after the front/back tracks.

Yeah I'm just here to annoy someone. Right.

These are all the threads releated to the exact topic you are asking about. I searched for about 5 mins. So, in reality what is annoying is seeing the same post over and over, and having people claimed that they searched the forum. And if that person did do a search, then they should work on their internet skills.

From my experience don't count on directing it after it hits to make your shot because they really can't go very far. If the tank or apc is moving fire where it will be in a few seconds. That's a lot easier then having it miss and try to direct it back into the end of the tank.

That's all I understood, and it's incorrect. It's most responsive, interms of guidance after the first +10-metres, but can be very accurrate at long distance.

EDIT: after reread, I apologise, i understand. Though I disagree with the highlighted bit

here's a good tip good for the quick shots at non-moving vehilces...aim at a tank, and fire and then quickly press "F" this will switch to ur knife. this will let u take cover once u fire, cuz if u dont, ur missile will be still guided by u while u still take cover, so press F.

i think when u do this (pressing F) the missile will dip a little after it gets out farther, so aim a lil higher. also dont forget to switch back to ur AT kit to reload

dont use this tip if the tank is like mobile. use it if hes like driving towards u or if hes standing still

I saw this in the guide as well, but I don't understand it. I've tried, and I can either move around or guide the missile. I don't understand how you do both at once.

More importantly, DON'T hit it in the front. The front armor takes something like half-damage from AT missiles. Hitting it square in the side does pretty good damage and isn't that hard of a shot to make.

As far as guiding it in, a large part of being detected hinges on accidentally pointing the thing at the tank before you even take the shot.
