Hey guys, i remember seeing theese in old games before, where companys or modders make custom sounds for weapons, like ive fired the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon before and it sounds nothing like it in BF2 but ive achieved this in othergames by downloading and installing a custom sound mod, not sure if EA Games allows this for the regular Ranked servers without getting you banned and what not for using a "Hack" if anyones got a link for some good sound mods that would be sweet, also i want an uninstall for it incase it sucks...if theyre even possible....thanks!

Re: Realism Sound Mod?
Funny, the sounds in USI to me are the worst I have heard in a game. Several of the rifles sound exactly the same, simply because they are the same sounds. Were talking about weapons of completely different shells and barrels, lol. Even worse, they sound very distorted, which is not the same thing as loud at all.Originally posted by LtChairNot sure about sound mods, but everything in the US Intervention mod sounds very realistic and loud.
The vehicles often still can be heard long after they have exploded, and the distances and volumes of them seem of to me.
Going with those CD collections will proably helo seperate yourselves even mopre from BF2 PRMM, which is a good thing. Im sure there are audio guys out there that would like to join and help your team though. If you dont have DEVs that are very good at it. Then again, if it sounds like USI, than just buy the CDs, lol.
I only saw two boosters packs for audio sounds with BF2.

this one seems to have sounds taken from bf1942, which the guy took credit for as his own, lol. Like tons of us dont know those sounds really well, lol.

This one is from the guy who does audio for USI. Weird thing is, every single audio file in his set was taken from bf2. I dont know why its a add on pack, and not called "Sounds I took from bf2 and repackaged"Comment

Re: Realism Sound Mod?
So you are telling the USI mod to get the efx sounds as well as PRMM who already has them coming up. I don't really know what you are getting at here?Comment

Im not understanding what it is that your not understanding, lol.Originally posted by trogdor1289So you are telling the USI mod to get the efx sounds as well as PRMM who already has them coming up. I don't really know what you are getting at here?
My point was that the sounds from USI were awful IMO. I dont care where they get new sounds from, but canned audio from a CD set would be better than what they have. Although, its kind of lame to just grab stuff from a cd, but you have to use what you can.
What if you just went and purchased your new models from a site, or bought maps someone made over the net. Seems like the same thing to me, but since the focus of PRMM is gameplay and not total conversion, I aint mad at ya, lol.

Re: Realism Sound Mod?
We actually had a long discussion/agurment over the issue of buying sounds. Then we decided if our community wanted to donate the money and buy the sound pack then donate it to us that it was ok. Plus the sound pack is just amazing with the high quality true to life sounds and all.Comment

Re: Realism Sound Mod?
I dont think theres anything wrong with you buying good sounds at all. I have a problem with people using sounds that are obviously bad, even if they were done in house. Might as well just buy them if thats the best option for your mod.
Plus, you guys have focused your attention to gameplay, and adding content second. A lot of people want that, so you guys are doing a service to plenty of people with your approach.
However, a Total Conversion should have all aspects done in house, and hopefully, done with some quality.Comment

Re: Realism Sound Mod?
I agree with that we are focusing on gameplay first then adding the Brits hopefully soon. So we are quite happy with the real range sounds. Plus they are royalty free.Comment

Re: Realism Sound Mod?
DICE took all sorts of steps to make sure you couldnt alter the material in game. Hence why some mods are taking a little while to get going, once they start.
You have to change the serial code imbedded in the audio file metadata so it doesnt crash.
There are tutorials on it over at the bf2 editor site.
