Anyone know why they closed the "open beta" for 1.4? There has been updated versions but nothing released to test.

This is my personal opinion and not in anyway BFROE or GWA's:

Well like any game official support of patches to the gaming community always dies out over time. It is rather fast but if you look at there timeline of events it proves an important point. Get products out to public and move on to next game/add-on. We can sit here and point fingers all day and say its about money etc. Well it is always about money my friends always has been. You are in a dream world if you think any gamer maker has you in there minds as the number one concern.

On a positive note keep playing BF2 or move on to another game. We gamers will always be here and it would be nice if companies would remember that with out us there is no product to be purchased.

One last thing what should they do sit and make patches for BF2 for years and years. People also get tired of games and move on so they are going to retire with the championship belt still around there waist.

yeah, but sometimes these game makers forget one thing, its us who decide to buy future games from them, and if they cant get the previous title right, I am sure sales will take a hit.

I doubt I will buy 2142, not my type of game, and they still cant fix the engine issues with BF2.

Most of the older games the developers actually cared about the product they made and so did the companys.

These days its all about flooding the market with as many games you can, they dont care if it has an *** ton of bugs.
(its called job security , no one else can fix these bugs but us)

I bet 1.4 will be the last patch we will see, cause i dont think DICE has any developers that are worth a **** to fix this game the right way.

Just look at what DICE CKCM has said about the J-10 and other known issues with this game.
(were too lazy to fix our own screw ups, you guys will just have to live with game being unbalanced)

BTW wargimp ive got the beta for mount & blade aswell thats an awsome little game download the mods for it they make it much more intresting the story mod is pretty good.

Really, so what if 1.4 is the last patch? I hope it is and that EA/DICE moves on to new titles. Why? Because the sooner BF2 is dropped, the quicker the mods can come in and make BF2 into a whole slew of wonderful and unique games/modes.

I liked BF 1942, BUT I LOVED Desert Combat. I like BF2, but I want to LOVE playing something again and the mods will be the only way that is going to happen anytime soon.

Another thing to consider.... IF the changelog for BF2 turns out to really allow unlocks on unranked servers, then you can almost bet that the whole concept of ranked servers for BF2 is about to evaporate. Why carry both BF2 rankings AND BF 2142? Doesn't make sense to me to keep up both, but that is just me. If the ranked servers fall by the wayside, then mods for BF2 might just have a chance.
