    Unlock thread

So I tried searching the forum, but couldn't come up with anything. The keywords brought up too many threads. Plus, the ones I DID find didn't have anything to do with my situation.

My main classes would probably be SpecOps and Sniper, so obviously I was looking at the G36C and M95.

But I also want a good gun. I don't care if I have to be Engineer (no offense, but I hardly ever choose it), if I have a good gun, I'm set.

The M95 is something that's really bugging me. I've heard that it's no better than the M24, except that it can shoot through glass. If that's all, then big deal, I won't be doing that anyway. I might go for something else and just ignore the sniper rifle if that's the case.

Anyway, I'm looking for weapons that are 1.) Accurate and 2.) Damaging.

A friend recommened T-BF2 to me. "They probably know everything." I just started playing, but you guys have over a year of experience behind you, so ...help please? :)

I'd go for the G36C if I were you.

But that's just based on your brief post and introduction.

    Welcome :hi:

      First off,

Welcome to TotalBF2 and the BF2 community !

      As per your question..

The best all around unlock (in my opinion) would be the G36C for the Spec Ops kit. It is incredibly accurate in both single shot and fully automatic firing. It's incredibly accurate, although it lacks the red dot sight included with the M4 and AK-74U.

The M95 is alright, not as accurate as the M24, partly due to the crosshair being very thick, therefore your not 100% sure where your aiming.

Personally I unlocked the M95 just for the L96 which is my favorite sniper rifle. However the G36C is a great weapon for Spec Ops I'd consider getting the G36C I'd consider getting that at the moment and maybe the M95 at a later stage.

Some will claim that the L85 (medic) is a good gun, personally I hate it, it’s inaccurate, bad in CQC and has the most annoying noise ever. Although many swear by that thing.

The G3 (assault) is a beast, smaller size magazine 20 rounds but packs a punch and is an awesome weapon when you get used to it. I've been using it over the last ~35 hours of my playing, great stopping power.

Also, you can always check out the UBAR (Unofficial Battlefield 2 Awards and Ranks Guide) for any information on kits, armies, weapons, awards and unlocks.

Thanks for the welcome guys, good to be here.

So wait...there's unlocks past these unlocks? Didn't see that in my research, lol. The L96 is the Special Forces sniper rifle, isn't it?

              Re: Unlock thread

There is, but only if you buy the Special Forces expansion pack - it's not a bad deal for $25 since you get a lot of content and new features. To unlock the second tier unlocks you must first unlock the first tier ones, though. So for example, the Spec Ops kit has 2 unlocks - the G36C and the SCAR-L - in order to unlock the SCAR-L you must first unlock the G36C.

You can also get somebody to log in to your account and play a round of Special Forces so you can get the unlocks.

That's ok, I bought the Deluxe Edition, so I got BF2 + SF for $50. Damn good deal, IMO.

I see, thanks for that info. I'm assuming that you can use the SF unlocks in 'vanilla' BF2?

I get 2 unlocks, so can I unlock these consecutively?

                    Sweet. :)

I think I'll go G36C and M95 as originally planned. M95 just so I can get to the L96.

Thanks for all the help though guys, appreciate it.

                      :salute: Welcome soldier

Yeah, G36c is nice, but personally a didn't play it much... My personal preference for first unlock would be L85A1, but it has a little longer learning curve that mentioned G36.
Well, it's all about personal preferences, if you just started, i suggest to focus on classes - which class is most fun to you. After a while you will know what style do you prefer.

Actually, you can unlock second tier unlocks without buying Special Forces. What SF does is at every unlock-available rank up you get two unlocks instead of just one. Very useful if you ask me. Up to you whether it's worth 25 bucks, or if you enjoy the expansion.

i recommend the g36c or the pkm. both are very good and are exactly what ur looking for. however i think the l85a1 is one of the best unlocks out there but seeing as how people have varying opinions about it i wouldnt advise that u pick it up.

                            :guns: Welcome!

You made the right call getting both BF2v & SF. Also, you are lucky that you already know what kits you like, because that is the most important thing to know when picking your unlock: "What kit am I going to play the most till my next promotion?" I made the mistake of getting the G3, when I never played the assualt kit.

If you play Sniper, the L96A1 is a MUST!!!!!!!! I can't stress that enough! With Spec, well, you can get by for a while without because the Spec-Op carbines, and I hope someone else will correct me, are all about the same. But there is a big leap between the M95 and L96. The L96 is much like the M24, but much quieter, ever so slightly more accurate, and has the best crosshair. With the M95, you must deal with a thick crosshair bars that obscure a distant target. You also have to adjust for some bullet drop with the M95 and not near as much with the L96. But the sniper unlocks save your a** when you are on a team with only the SVD and you have some distance shooting in store.

If you are someone that can rack up a lot of points quickly for another promotion play Spec, you might want to go that route, knowing you will get to the next rank quicker then playing sniper for a few weeks. Maybe that philosophy works.

But, here, just when you kill another sniper, pick up his kit and try what he is shooting, my friend that had to wait through the 30000 point gulf till his Mst SGt promotion, would kill enemy snipers just to pick the L96, because all he had was the M95.

The M95 is ok. Might wanna choose it over the SVD if your stuck on MEC. If you wanna unlock the L96A1 you might wanna just get the M95 first. The G36C is accurate and ok in close quarters. But really not that much better then the defaults. The defaults have the red dot laser scope on single shot they can hit what an G36C can on full auto. Also some of them like the M4 and AK-74 are better in extreme close quarters.
