Beat !.4 with Bug fixes?

I'm just wondering when DICE will release a beta version that has a lot of BUG FIXES in it.

I think more people will test the beta if DICE actually shows us they fixed bugs/probems in bf2. (show us what the coders been doing for the past 2months, release a beta with bug fixes)
Not everyone loves Infantry only mod so why should we waste our time testing something that 90% of the community wont even play?

No one knows the exact date. I think you are missing the entire point of the beta itself. The reason it is in beta at the moment is so that people can play and report bugs that they find. How will you know if the beta is an improvement if no one plays it?
I guess you really do not know all that much about the 1.4 beta patch after all. It is not Infantry Only on the all test servers. Don't know wjhere you are getting your information from but it's not correct.

well if some people would SHOW up to the testing. that me and TOTALBF2. have posted up. i think they would tell us some stuff. beaucse it just looks like no one wants a new patch and everone can deal with the 1.3 patch.

Good point, I try to get on as much as I can. But it's hard if no one's around to play against/with

well you are the only one that replied. so i take it that everone is happy with 1.3 and ea should stop supporting bf2. and stop making 1.4. leave it.

1.4 Beta 2 was released July 14th (my how time flys) and there's been a few newer builds but they don't want the "feedback" on it anymore or else they would release the newer builds to us to test, I think it's they who are dropping the ball not us.

Maybe they just don't want to have to sift through all the "error reports" of things like claymores aren't destroyable or there's no widescreen support etc, things that won't ever be "patched"

It's really funny how everyone complains on these forums about DICE putting out patches and expansions without getting all the bugs out before releases. Now DICE listens to the community and gives them a chance to be pro active, to bug test on there own. The community responds with ignorance and laziness and still finds ways to complain. So silly, if you want a bug free release, it's now up to us. I wonder if DICE is really so bad? If left up to the community we would have a game full of every bug imagineable.

What's the point in testing 1.4 beta 2 when they've moved on since then, anything you would report at this stage wouldn't even be looked into (if it hasn't already been reported 5x over)

The truth is they couldn't get people to play on the 1.4 beta servers because, "OMG you mean I'm not getting any of these points recorded!!!"

I wish them luck with an open beta for BF2142, people will want their rank to carry over to retail "as compensation for such hard work" or something.

They are looking for feedback on the patch. They are counting the hours that are played on those servers. When a certain amount of hours are tallied, then they will release the patch. Do you really think they want to release another patch like 1.3? They are not about to do that again, it takes a long time to test, retest, check and double check.

The point in testing the patch ultimately is not to have the masses ranting about the "crappy patches" yet again. Everyone wants the new patch to come out, but not too many people are willing to participate in it to begin with. Another thing, the technical issues of the patch should come first and formost (crashing to desktop/server crashes/memory leaks), but instead you have an army of people complaining that a grenade shold be nerfed or that the pistol is too accurate. Those problems can be fixed by playing in servers that have admins that do not tolerate that kind of crap. Most of the petty complaints are coming in about the servers that have a 20+ page rule book, or run by prepubescent 9 year olds. If no one played on those servers they would not exist. No one is going to shell out $150 a month for a totally empty server. The real problems should be fixed first and formost. Enough with teh nerfing this and that. There are some obvious things that still need adjustments (F35B vs J-10), but I would rather get a stable game FIRST.

I agree, the same people that are not testing the patch are the same ones that are complaining about 1.3 being crap. Just because there is no points to be earned everyone would rather sit with their fingers in their ears and their eyes closed.

But I think it comes down to that the community is tired, Really tired of wasted patches, time asking for some answers and no one replying. If they beta every patch upto date How much would really get resolved? I dont remember anyone say we need a infrantry only mode? This is Modern military sims unless there is a hidden title saying Civil War sims.

If they would come out showing that they are working BUGS that we are reporting since the release of battlefield there would be more Patch testers out there. I would be more than happy to test but again like someone said installing this crap and copying that crap and then playing IF they made it like a mod where you instal and then click, that would also increase the amount of testers.

The biggest problem I see with Dice/EA is they arent listening to the community as much as some think. Like the no name/Red tag bug dice said they needed a screen shot of this, well I missed my chance a couple of times but the fact is if a large amount of the community is saying there is a problem with this, then something about that has to be true. So lets look through the coding and see the problem. I cant see a screen shot showing them the code error. Now I am talking about just bugs not nerfing ****.

Personally they should strickly have one team on bugs and one team on balance but that might make sense.

Dice should try a poll or sometype of survey system. Do you have these problems if so select each box. No complaining, just a question and answers, Then their server would compile the answers...Well crap looke 20,000 people are seeing problem with name bug or something like that.. Well lets look. Its 1 am and Im tired from work.

The bottom line is just like every BF series out, As soon as the next part of their series comes out they drop the support of the previous. Or give very little support.

So 2142 is nearing, the less support BF2 will have. I just pray they actually make a working game this time.

Are you making that part up or has this been posted somewhere by Colin or somebody high up? I just don’t understand the logic in testing an effectively old version of the 1.4 patch, why wouldn’t they want to release the incremental update(s) that they’ve obviously released to internal closed testing of some kind to us to test, did they really get a bunch of support calls from people too stupid to know a) how to backup their BF2 install and b) not know the difference between a beta patch test and a final release?

Regardless how you look at it not having a hot fix for the server crash issue has got to be the biggest blunder by a gaming company in 2006, if they do have an excuse for not releasing one I sure would like to hear it.

well i have sent in 2 new bugs in to CKMC. and i keep sending in new bugs. alls you got to do is runs fraps and when you think you see something and you know how to do it a second time. runs fraps and get it on video. thats what i do.

evan tho i dont have a life.

and it does seem like i am the ONLY person WHO does any TESTING on the new 1.4. and i have made 1 post about testing and doing testing ever monday night. at 9:30 or 10:00.

and its going to held againg on monday at 9:30 or 10:00 pm EST.

If I can succesfully copy my BF2 folder without my computer falling apart than Id be happy to test(wich Im in the proccess of doing) unfortunatly BF2 is too big of a file, and my computer to small of a hardrive for things to go smoothly


edit: If I create a shortcut to the BF2 folder, and than patch that will I still be able to play both 1.3, and 1.4
