I like to think of myself as a good player. Whether or not others see me that way is subjective.
I try to help my team, whether it be by running head first in to demise after demise, trying to capture a silly flagpole from some hairy middle-eastern guys, or by supplying my teammates with magic little bag of medicine and bullets. I don't punish a teammate for accidently shooting me in the crotch as I round a corner. I don't use any underhand tactics such as spamming grenades, or dolphin diving, and instead of complaining about the tank that keeps killing me, I choose to adapt and overcome the challenge. I figure the AT kit it there for a reason.
I've always enjoyed the premise behind the Snper class. A stealthy loner, staying away form the front lines of battle, but staying close enough to still put a bullent in the side of somebody's head. Perched on rooftops, or laying in the bushes as a tank drives by, the whole idea has always interested me.
I've always refrained from playing as a Sniper though, because it seems to be the one class which attracts the most players. I guess the idea appeals to them too. So, in the name of teamwork, I have resorted to resupplying my comrades with ammo packs, or giving them a little jolt with my shock paddles, instead of remaining pinned down on a rooftop somewhere.
Recently, I have been toying around with my favourite kit again, and having some success.
Here's the scene. Special Forces, Ghost Town, Spetznaz. We are held to our uncapturable base, as the blasted SAS have pushed us back, and captured all of those neat little flagpoles. I make my way through the alternate route (that route being the dirt road, adjacent to the bridge. I end up behind a house with some concrete as some cover. I'm facing the Northwest Sector (or something to the same extent - the name escapes me at the moment) which spawn an attack chopper.
I figure great, I'll wait here with my M95 and blast the brains of any soul unlucky enough to try and leave the ground.
Bingo! A player gets in the pilot seat, and seconds later is staring at the spawn screen. Cool, I thought, I wonder if I can do it again! I go prone, and as I'm laying in the dirt, I hear the distinct sound of rotors turning on a attack chopper. I stand up, move my corsshairs just an inch, and boom! headshot!
Uh oh, it was the same player as before! Now, a second (different) player enters the attack chopper, annd is able to enter the air before I can get a third victim.
The only reason the player I had killed twice previously didn't try to take off again, is because he was too bust typing..
"kick Garabaldi, he's cheating so bad"
"I'm using the M95 to shoot you out of the cockpit - that's not cheating"
To which he replies politely with..
"shutup you rectum cavity" (well.. not quite.. but I'm sure you can figure out what I'm trying to say)
Lovely!
Surprising how many people get their knickers in a bunch over getting killed in a game where huge guys run around with guns.. which fire bullets.. which kill people.
The point of this story? Nothing really. I just found it sort of amusing.
It's also an indication of the amount of childish players in the BF2 community. Granted, they make up only a small percentage, as generally, the BF2 community is excellent, but, those small percentage of children up past their bedtime, are especially obnoxious and annoying
