Remap ESC key?

Has anyone remapped the esc key to something else? My friend and I were talking about how annoying it is to hit the ~ or esc key in the middle of flying. Anyone have a solution for this?

I find it worse hitting the "c" key while flying and the camera goin all crazy. I will sometimes hit escape by accident but it's rare.

HAHAHA, we were talking about that too!!!! Because I was saying how I need to remap my flare key because I am always getting camera switched when I am getting shot at.

how would u accidentally hit ur ESC key? in most games, the esc key would bring up the menu and hte key is sortof isolated (well on my keyboard it is)

I have done it back when I did not have my camera angles mapped on my joystick. But I have done it while going for my knife and other strange occasions. It is mostly happening to my friend now.

Well I don't think i've ever accidently hit the ESC key, maybe on some rare occasions. It'd only ever happen when i'm switching places in a vehicle, as that's the only time I ever go anywhere near the ESC key, ofcourse unless I want to actually press it.

Well, the point was, is there a way to do it, why someone does it. I am not at my home computer, so I can't look for a solution in the config files.

If you don't care about your keyboard you could just pop the key out...

I use 2 keyboards at once
plain vanilla for typing and Zboard for playing
(do not laugh - I am such a bad typist - and the split ley layout of the zboard makes me REALLY bad :wall: )
I have the plain one right in front of me, and the Z farther and offset to the left, so that when I play, my left arm is flat on the table, and to the left of the plain board
now, the plain board ESC key is right next to my - hmmm. muscular forearm
and I tapped it all the time
and as I am flying helo's most of the time - arghhhhhhhhhhh!

so, I remapped it to the F8 key - no more bumps into BF2 Menu :banana:
need to do this in the control.con file

i used to always try to exit the squad or command menu using the wsc key.

Also, putting a bottle cap on it will make it unpresable :P

I used to hit e and c all the time, now instead of c i use h and i just don't hit e anymore, i also have default cockpit view as the space bar.

i was used to esp for cod2 but i got used to it.

Now that we are talking about it, it happens all the time still because when you are switching between the driver and the gunner in a jeep or helo, you can brush that esc key.
