Also, a Core Duo is not the same as a Core 2 Duo, so that is still old CPU architecture. It should still work without the stutters though.

Does it have speed-stepping support? If so, you could consider turning that off and forcing it to operate on "high" all the time.
Well when my laptop is plugged it operates at 1.83ghz not matter, what I have all speedstepping programs uninstalled or disabled.

Right now im defragging before I play since I just reinstalled.

      Get another gig of ram.

      I upgraded my system to;
      AMD 64 3500+
      SATA2 HD
1 gig PC3200 dual channel ram
      7900GT 256MB vid card

I was getting good fps (60-70) with everything on high but it was still AWFULLY choppy. Put an extra gig of ram in and it runs smooth as silk now. It loads faster, verifies faster and doesn't lag at the start of the round.

Any1here runs a 1gb with medium to high settings?

My HDD light flickers on and off every 10s indicating PF usage.
EA publishes the game dude, they didn't make it. So if you buy a book but can't understand it, you go after the people that bound the written material and put a cover on it? I see, interesting logic...
Games are changing, your 1GB of RAM may have run CSS well, but this is a different game all together. You have a computer that is more capable of running BF2? What specs?

My specs are in my sig.

Ok, now I set everything to medium, AA off, res @ 1024 x 768 (BF2 Does Not Support Widescreen and I dont feel like doing the trick to make it).

Again I was getting 50+ fps but it stuttered, it was less than orginally but it is less. Apparently the only way to go is to get another gig.

Well no, because it is stupid that I need more than 1gig because the idiots at DICE couldnt optimize the damn game well enough not to mention screwing up things everytime a patch is released.

I think 1.3 caused this stuttering because on my old comp with 1.2 it did not and its a 4yr old system with 768mb ram, an AMD Athalon, and a 9600 Pro 256mb.

1.3 messed up alot of ****.

Re: Im So Pissed at EA

I really like how people compare BF2 to other games. "Well, I can run this game on high, blah blah blah."

There is not any games out that have the massive size maps & up to 64 people from all over the world connected flying planes, helis, shooting missiles, artillery/grenade/tank gun explosions going off everywhere, etc.

You want to play 21 century technologically advances games? Then stop trying to play them with the bare min requirements or just a tad over. RAM has always been a major factor in pretty much ALL programs out whether it is photo/movie editing, etc. RAM is a major factor Espeecially in the gaming world.

If you don't listen to the tons of people & forum threads that talk about RAM being needed the most in gaming, then find a new hobby or go play on 16 or 32 player maps.

Guaranteed, another gig of RAM will make a world of difference in BF2. Nuff said! But I still wouldn't try to max all the graphics on a laptop & expect it to perform to your expectations. Not gonna happen.

Joint Operations supports up to 150 players playing on the same server and map at the same time.
