I'm slightly worried [CTD's]

i know that CTD's are common now with 1.3

but i never used to suffer on the scale i am now, it seems which ever map i load only 1 out of 5 will let me go on and play, the rest have stuttery music then crash to desktop. is this 1.3 kicking in or worse is my PC dieing??

like i said i never used to suffer from CTD's like this now after playing 1.3 for bout 2 months.

also does 1.4 beta work on SF as well as vannila?

It is a common thing in patch 1.3 everyone is suffering from it the best advice i can give you is try to defrag your HDD and try to play 16-32 maps only and also try pressing ESC instead of join game it helps sometimes. If you want to get rid of CTD try playing 1.4 beta 2 it never crashed on me "still."

well i did what you said (as regards to map size and plressing Esc not clicking, and i got on 2 servers out of 2 attempts)

and tonight i'll defrag my HD.

yea and the loading times are much worse in 1.3

if u dont want it to crash i usually wait a bit for the game to join automatically for me

Yeah, Alot of people have CTD's alot of people also say that waiting a second or 2 before you press the Join game button it usally will not crash.

i just found it wierd that all of a sudden i'm suffering after all this time of being alright
