hey no prob at all.....

well anything that pertains to 3gb and large address aware, no, but to be honest i kind of forgot how this thread started, so went back to the beginning, and i think you were perhaps after a batch file that would make a choosable menu for your bf2 boosters, as you asked for me to post all of the bact rather than just sections? if so there you go, but all the other stuff is for my system and may confuse it for anyone else, so take from it what you will :)

hey there,

right, the above would be best in a batch file not your actual shortcut. i am not sure you want that /WAIT command in there unless you are already using that in a batch and want the command window to hang fire to do something after you quit bf2!

i found in order to get windows to see as much of my 4gb as possible i had to do quite a few things;

1) go into your bios and disable ANY items you dont make use of, for example i disabled my floppy controller, network cards, serial ports, controllers, on board audio etc etc, as silly as this all sounds what you are doing is then freeing up the resources and ram that windows keeps back to utilize system items, this is good practise anyway as it lowers demand on your resources.

2) similar to the above i also changed my AGP aperture in the bios. this makes the single biggest effect on your ram size as its shared out of your system ram (people still dont believe it does this but the GART table grabs it for sure), for example i have a 256mb card, and have after playing with all the values, decided that for me 128 aperture is best, lowering and compacting the GART table, giving me back 128mb of ram to my system. this setting greatly differs as on my other pc has a 256mb vga card has to have 256mb aperture to perform well so cant do anything with that. so it differs graphics card to graphics card, system to system

3) add the following in your boot.ini;

/3GB /PAE /USERVA=2560 /noexeute=AlwaysOff /burnmemory=0

adjust the userva to suit, as this was the sweet spot for my system.

my ram in windows shows as 3.25gb of ram and that is the most i am gonna get it to show EVER on a 32 bit system and O/S

i think if i remember correctly xp used to show more before service pack 2

so to summarize if yours is already showing as 3.25, and if you havent made any of the above changes, then you may get yours to show more, mine used to show 3.00 - suck it and see. but it depends on your agp aperture settings, and what workd best, i suggest trying ALL of the available settings in your bios starting with 32 working upwards and playing bf2 in between....you will get an idea as to what performs best.

btw with all those boot.ini commands, that wont MAKE windows show u more ram, but it will increase your performance in ram related tasks, it did for me with bf2

do you have a pagefile? if so get rid, with ure 4gb u will be fine, not looked back since!!
