Install Error Code: 5006 : 0x80070003

Lost my Mobo in my gaming rig,
trying to start from scratch on my laptop,
amd 64 4000 1 gig etc....

anyway, the bf2 installer wont even get past its initial loadup,
I get something like,
Error Code: 5006 : 0x80070003
another instance of the installer is already running
please wait for that to close (or something like that),

thing of it is, that there is no installer running !
I tried the FAQ at ea, renamed the installer folder ect
nothing works.

I even tried a manual install (copying contents of dvd into Disk1 folder)
and no luck.

ran chkdsk, defrag, restarted same trouble...

any ideas ?

It's a problem with Install shield
