CD/DVD Driver Dissapears Sometimes with BF2 DVD

Its really frustrating, sometimes when I insert the BF2 DVD into the drive and hit the icon, I get an error saying please insert bf2 disk. When it is actually inserted in the drive already.

Then I check "My Computer" and my DVD drive is gone, I then have to reboot so it will reappear and hopefully start bf2 fine.

cud be a defctive dvd maybe? or bad disc drive? make sure the connections are right i once had to unplug the cables in my drive because it wasnt reading it hope i helped

I've confirmed it isnt my drive, it has to do with BF2, the game works fine on my desktops DVD drive, but not here on my laptop.

I searched google, which came up with 1 thread that didnt solve the issue.

I have also removed and reinserted the disk drive.

maybe bf2 disc is defective maybe your the unlucky one who got a bad disc

The disc isnt bad because, its not the bf2 disk. Its the whole dvd disk drive that dissapears as if it was taken out of my computer...

Plus it works fine on my desktop...

Take it to a pc shop where they fix these problems. It will cost around £30 to get it checked then they will fix it if there is anything wrong with it

Its a BF2 Disk issue....

i understand what you are saying, it has happened to me one time only. I just rebooted and all was fine so i never investigated the problem since. If you do a search you will find how to make an .ISO image of your disc, this will allow you to play BF2 without having the disc in the drive. I put my problem down to a poor read off the disc, maybe thru some dirt on the surface.
