Game loaded, Verifing client data?

What is this exactly. It used to take two seconds when i first got the game last year. Now it takes me +5minutes Varying on same days.. How can i speed this up or just skip it online?

its just the game checking some files to make sure your game is legit and not a pirated/modded version.

there is a thread bout improving it somewhere in the tips and trick section, a sticky i beleive. just do a forum search for "client data"

ya know, some days its quicker than others for me too. ppl say drive fragmenting affects it, so maybe cuz your drive has gotten more fragmented over time and thats what slows it down.

Delete some of your favorites
Delete your cache
Defrag your hard drive once in a while

Lag and loading times seem to change with each patch. Lag and choppiness has gone WAY up since the original version of the game, and loading time seems to get long then shorter again.

No, its the shader cache. Located My Documents > Battlefield 2 > Mods > BF2 > Cache. If you have multiple folders in there you should delete them all. Start up your BF2 load a map, this optimizes a new shader cache into that folder. Once the map has loaded exit BF2 and run a defrag on whichever drive BF2 is located on. You should be much quicker then. Verifying client means the game is checking to see if you have messed around with it, the quicker it finds and verifiys them files the better.

Well I know pre-1.3 Linux servers would verify much faster than Windows. 1.3, of course, ruined it.

If you were playing on linux servers at that time, you were not getting a client verification. It may have looked like it, but you weren't. Now they have that all set as a prerequisite for a server to have ranked status.
