Bots dropping C2 around our base?

I noticed that at the start of many SP/Co-Op games, the bots from my team will often drop C2 on the ground within our base (...seemingly at the spawn points, or by the trailer thing)... Is that a bug, or is there some purpose there? They don't detonate them (thankfully)...

you cant drop c2 in this game you can only drop c4.

They'll blow it when an enemy gets on the flag.. I've been blown up by C4 traps in Coop a couple times

C2 is door breaching explosive strips, used commonly by SWAT.
