    Norton Antivirus Problem

Game runs beautifly .. no problems there in single mode:

I go to play multiplayer, the second it tries to load the servers my norton pops up sayin its detected an intrusion. Its clearly BF2 as it only happens the second i refresh or try to load a server list...it pops up and tabs me out of the game accordingly...

So then i go into "more info" and go to the Norton Options about Worm intrusion procection. You can permit certain programs so that it doesnt go crazy when ti tried to connect to other computers....i looked and BF2 is alraedy in there from the start and remains ther as a "Permit All" option so no pop-ups or blocking should take place...

So im very confused as to why it still persists to tab me out and detect an intrusion..how can i resolve this issue? What od i have to do??

    Thank you

OMG! I really, really recommend that you remove norton...

You will understand if you take a look at all the stuff that starts up with windows, and runs in the background....

Hit - Start - Run - type "msconfig" without the quotes....
Hit the services tab, and tick the "Hide all microsoft services" box,
also in the startup tab section...

      Try NOD32 instead!

Edit: @ HIV: You cannot shut down norton, thats my point... and even if you can, there is so much more that comes with it that runs in the background....

True you cant close all the services but it can be shut down, but atleast he can stop the message spamming, hope so. Norton just sucks thats why iam using NOD32.

ya, norton is pretty lame. i had the same problem with BF2 even when i told it to allow connection. on top of that, it loads so much crap on start up, i would have to sit there waiting for it to finish before i could start doing anything.

i just uninstalled norton and got AVG Free.

                Re: Norton Antivirus Problem

i have norton internet security 2006 and have no problems whatsoever, not even seen anything about worm protection... just google your problem.
Stick with it ,most people who knock it just like to slag it off because they can't set it up properly...been a norton user for 5 years now, rock solid.
maybe just disable worm protection ? like i say i don't see anything in my internet security about worm protection so i can't be of more help.

Norton 2006 has been pretty solid when running BF2. COme to think of it, Im behind a router and dont get very many intrusions.

                        Re: Norton Antivirus Problem

I'm shure norton is sequre, but it slows down your system... And that isnt ideal for a gaming comp...

And another thing is, when you remove it from your system, the crap is still in there slowing your system down, so the only option is to reinstall windows...

Do me a favour and search for "norton" or "symantec" then you'll see what i am talking about... Same goes for the register! :p

                          Re: Norton Antivirus Problem

Norton is like MS they believe that you should upgrade your computer to run there software instead of them optimising there software. God I got rid of that crap years ago.

NOD32 is very good, uses like 1/10 of the system requirements of Norton its also much faster.
