I had a problem, since patch 1.3 my machine kept crashing, well locking up, I had to reboot each time. Nothing new if you peruse the forums! I tried all the advice streams,and carried out all the relevent processes. Still no joy. I only play BF2, what the hey, I'll wait for the next patch, 1.4. I am an adult, with 2 kids, my job is as a professional IT person. Then I asked my 9 yr old son if he had any problems on the same pc, he reported that his Runescape had started crashing a lot. Thinking cap on... had a look inside the pc, found a badly fouled main chip fan and heatsink, an almighty blanket of dust build up. Cleaned it all up, ...guess what, it now works fine, I don't now have to wait for patch 1.4 before playing again. I now play every day! I 'm an IT professional, and I was fooled by the symptoms, please, any one with problems that give similar indications, please bear in mind my post.
